Who has switched from I5 to I10?

Just wanted to see who has switched and for what reasons. And whether it was for the good or the bad :rolleyes:

I tried the i10s. They were ok but not good enough to dethrone the i5s.

I bought a set of i10's and sold a couple months later. I still play i5's because I didn't see much benefit and the 10's were more difficult to hit in the long irons.

I switched towards the end of last year and have zero regrets. While I think the i5 is great and did wonders for my game, they were some things I wanted tweaked. The i10 is everything I wanted the i5 to be, I'm quite happy.

 

To tomg1969's point, it is worth noting that I play a G10 5 iron and hybrids below that.

Demoed a set of I10 with AWT shafts. Not nearly as forgiving as the I5 and I much prefer the CS Lite shaft feel to the AWT. I don't think the AWT's fit smoother tempo players so that's not the shafts fault. I know a lot of guys who really like that shaft and hate mine, all about the fit. Not throwing I10's into the grease by any stretch, I think all Ping irons rule. But for me, advantage:

 

Color - I5

Forgiveness - I5

Feel - I5

Accuracy - I5

Distance - push

Working Ball - I10

 

So as a 11-12 index I don't really work the ball. I5's are all time great irons. I have seen soooo many players leave them just to come back to them.

been on the I5 since they came out and demoed the I10 last summer. The bottom line for me is they were quite nice but for me the forgiveness of the I5 is better and I personally feel more secure in the swing with them. So I continued with the I5 and probably will for some time. Although I am quite curious to see what ping will have as a replacement for the I10, for what I have gathered from other forum members there is a so called 2 year product cycle and coming this fall I think they should be introducing a new line replacing the G10-I10. Im especially excited to see what will replace the I10 irons.

I went from G10 to I5 then to I10s. Now back to I5s. IMO the I5s are more forgiving and longer. The AWT shaft could have something to do with some of that. That shaft stinks as far as I am concerned. I just feel the I5s are a better fit for me. I'll be playing I5s for a while.

i switched from I5 to I10 a few months ago. I liked the offset of the I10 a little better, plus after 4 years i just wanted new clubs. The I5's were great and the I10's are a terrific club too, albeit aimed at a slightly different target player

I agree. My main disatisfaction with i10 was the AWT shafts. I lost distance with them comapred to my i5's with ZZ65. I have both sets but I am gonna stick with the i5's this summer.

 

I might send the i10's in for a reshaft next fall.

 

Moral of the story: Keep your i5's around!

Currently play I-10s awt x. 6 hdp usually to 3.5 by summers end. I like the irons especially from the 6 to UW and ......sometimes the 5 iron when swing well. I'm considering the I-5s for the added forgiveness in the long irons. I typically play right to left (rh). Driver swing speed is a smooth 110-112. I'm 6'4" so I can crank it up to 118-120 but bad things tend to happen more often. For those that have played both the 5s and 10s, keeping in mind a smooth transition, will the I5 offset be too much for me? And would the CS shaft be playable?

How much better distance wise? I have G10s with CS Lite Stiff installed at Ping, and a new set of KBS Tour 90s shafts ready to install. I know the G10 head is a bit higher flight than I5 already, but was the price of reshafting worth it to you? What swing weight did they come out to?

I for one chose to stay with the I5---especially after sending them back to Ping for refinishing. Great, classic design---and I just love them.

I would highly recommend the I5's. I have been playing them for the past few years. I tried the I10 when they first came out, but liked the I5 more. I play left to right (lh) and have no issues with the offset. You should definitely try the ZZ65 shafts, especially at your SS.
