So ya from one man to another.....I’m jealous of you. There i said it.   All joking aside that’s an incredible setup. Love the baby Scotty for your son. Head cover really completes the look.

Too busy buying cars and washing them to play golf ;)

Tai what ball are you currently playing and have you tried the AVX?

The '17 ProV1. Tried the AVX, don't really like it.. it doesn't spin enough around the greens. I tried the '19 ProV1 and that is a really nice ball.. seems to have the AVX or similar dimple pattern. Seems to be no brainer replacement for the '17, but I just bought 7 more doz. Ugh.

Have the characteristics of the balls actually swapped as it says on the package? V lower long game spin now vs X? I'm typically an X player for the lower long game spin but it seems that the V might be that ball now, all in all seems a little confusing with the changes to the '19. Just wondering from your experience if its worth changing to the V or if you're an X player to stick with that. I'm mainly concerned with lowering driver/iron spin.

Have seen this question a lot, and when the '17 Pro V versions were released I was confused by this as well. I do some part time work for a different OEM, and talked to my buddy who does the same work for Titleist about this exact thing a couple years ago. He said that the changes to the '17 versions didn't necessarily invert the characteristics of the two types, but that the differences were more subtle than in past iterations. Also, the gap between the standard and X from a long game total distance perspective had been closed entirely, IOW driver distance on the two balls is practically identical but they arrive at the same total number in subtly different ways (same with other clubs at the long end of the bag). Feedback from Tour guys was that they'd love to be able to play the Pro V if they can do so without giving up even a little bit of driver performance. The '17 ProV was the answer to that request. That being the case, the choice between the V and X came down to short game performance and feel preferences even more than with previous Pro V models.

In short, the X is still the higher launching and lower spinning ball in the long game but the differences between the two aren't as big.

Rarely do I disagree with you.. but I disagree on this. I found the regular V to be closer to the TP5X but with more spin and the V1X to launch higher and spin more, too much on both for my game. I found spin to be similar around the greens but higher with the V1X.. enough so that if I were playing a course with hard firm greens, I'd go V1X for those rounds.

No offense taken, just repeating some information from a source I'd consider reliable but can't attest to the veracity of as I haven't played either ball. :drinks:

It's almost as if you can't put much stock in what the company line is on balls these days with confusing descriptions and playing characteristics being tweaked from cycle to cycle; you really have to test drive them to see how each one will behave for you.

For some reason I stopped getting alerts on here!

This is still, hands down, my favorite thread on here.

Thanks brother! :drinks: :drinks:

Tai, have you made a decision on what driver is going in the bag?

Yes, I went with the TS3 8.5 with Fuji Speeder TR7 - it is a MONSTER! Longest Titleist driver I have owned, and still has the same playability characteristics I love about the Titleist drivers.

Still loving the JPX 919 Tours?

Yes, they are just really good. Sound/feel are so much better than my 718's and a performance is also better.

So Tai any updates on how things are going with the 919s and the S18s?

As said above.. really happy with the 919T's, I don't see them going anywhere. The S18's are also really nice on the course, have hit some amazing shots with them. I only have them in the PW and GW, so only full shots really with them, I can't comment on the SW or LW or how those grinds work, and will be sticking to what I know in the Vokey V-Grind.

Highly recommend trying the Mizzy's if you're considering them.

Ugh been TMAG fan and player for a longer time, Ts3 driver has got my interest

@175cc do you like the fw’s?

If I remember correct it was sparked by sharp pains in the back of your hands when doing different things. I experience this when I’m picking up things or trying to open jars and what not. Thanks man.

I had a hammate fracture in my left hand. Basically with my palm up there was a very sharp pain at the "meat" of my pinky and ring finger in my palm. Only fix is surgery.

Haha, definitely quiet. Record low amount of golf for me this year.. 28 rounds in the past 12 months, historically above 100+/year. Work has been really busy as well as parental responsibilities. Golf just takes too long for me right now :s Hoping to play more, but not sure if I see that changing anytime soon. Starting to question my membership at the club, my per round cost has to be above $500 at this point lol!

I have been buying putters and other stuff though - and want to revamp my irons/woods soon.

First of all that chromatic blue is just amazing. How come you’re bailing on the 919s?
