Nickent 3DX DC Utility

The original 3DX had too much offset. The new DC line is better about that. But the utility wood looks more useful than the ironwood which is more of a 2 iron replacement than a rescue club. Thoughts?

I'm about to de-bag my Nickent. I wasn't happy with the feel and the flight. The bigger head made it easier to hit, however, it was very light and felt like it was going way too fast for my tempo, even when I did slow down.

I have the Utility DC 5 Wood (19*) and it is quickly becoming on of my favorite clubs in the bag. I'm hitting really nice shots with it. It's good for a low-ball hitter like me.

Can you describe your other woods and what type of player you are? Like I said in the OP, I don't need a 2 iron replacement. I need a "Get me out of this horrible lie!" and "I need to hit a shot that flies 230yds and stops within 5 yds" club.

Any thoughts about the stock UST SR2 shaft? Does it play weak?

Think of it as just a 5 Wood with a shorter shaft. I'm a 9.6 index, I hit a 5 iron about 180, and I hit the 19* around 210. I have the graphite stiff (not the NV, because I wanted higher trajectory.) I don't have a lot of experience out of the rough with it yet because our bermuda is dormant.

I know you're a 9.6, but have you tried to manipulate ball trajectory with this thing?

 

You say it plays like a 5wd with shorter shaft...does that mean I shouldn't expect it to fill the distance gap that a 5 wood would?

Ah. I think that if you had a steel shaft, it might not be "too light"
