YES ffany Putter... errr I mean Tiffany

Misprinted on my new YES Tiffany

I got a new YES Tiffany delivered to me yesterday and to my amazement the printing on the bottom of the putter in the letter punching says "ffany". :)

Is this a rare occurance and does it make the putter worth something, or is it just a novelty item now.

I see it as a fine example of what happens when companies get more into quantity instead of quality. Ever notice how two or three putters of the same models on the shelf don't hang the same way or feel weight different? I personally expect more from companies. Would you buy a car with mistakes in it...say, the wiring, if quality control didn't catch it?

On a related note - had a chance to be tested on the Yes cameras over the winter. Compared my tour Cammy to a Yes and had the chance to meet the tour rep for Yes who is super nice. He did my camera fitting. Afterward he told me to give him a call and he'd have a custom Callie done up for me by the guys in their tour department to match my specs including down to the sightdot on my Cammy. Well when I received the putter the sightdot was not even in the center of the top line. Very disappointing. I couldn't believe their tour guys couldn't even get it right. Needless to say I didn't keep the putter. I think the Yes putter has some good technology in it but the execution of it is often pretty poor. Made me wonder if their tour guys couldn't even get a putter right then how out of whack are some of thier production models?

Their QC must be lacking!

In my local Golf Galaxy the other day, you could twist the head on EVERY one of the new MacGregor/Bobby Grace Mini GT putters and 4 of the 6 new Fat Lady Swings putters that they had!! That's not saying much for their quality either, and these are $180 putters!

Makes me appreciate the quality flatstick I use!

That's crazy. If that happened to a Cammy or Betti, that thing would be worth $$$$$.

Anyone who's collected baseball cards, I have a 'blank back' Steve Carlton, which literally has no writing on the back. If this was a Barry Bonds, it be worth a TON of dough.

Also, I have an Al Leiter rookie with the Yankees that actually has the picture of Steve George, a no name minor league pitcher in 86.

If you get the right 'mistake' you could make a few $$$.

Mabye Yes! got some good press and they are trying to cash in?

Or it could be that they are a victim of their own success; they don't have the production capacity to meet orders with the previous quality, so they lower standards to get more product out the door.
