Mine get wiped after each shot and the grooves get cleaned several times a round (with a tee or brush), but only get a full bath when they get really dirty. Woods and hybrids rarely get much besides a damp towel on the course.

Do I need a 4-iron?

haha i guess im the only one. i play 2-3 times per week, all sorts of conditions, and havent cleaned my clubs since the fall. ill wipe excess chunkage off them so my bag doesnt get too dirty, but the bottom half inch or so of my clubface is stained green. some people prefer chrome, some people black oxide, i roll with natural camo. every so often i use a tee and keep the grooves kinda clear.

i do keep my wedges clean though, usually run a tee through the grooves before/after a shot.

I have a very steep attack angle which means the grooves are filled with mud after ever shot. I carry a soaked towel and the grooves are fully cleaned after every shot. I have never had a 'time issue' doing this and I always ride.

If you hit the ball with the dirty club face / grooves you will incur more wear on grooves (from grinding the dirt and small rocks into the face) plus obviously you are sacrificing spin.

I try to clean after every shot and definitely clean at home after every round/practice session.

I use the wooden scewers that you would cook shrimp on the grill with and they work wonders with warm water. (sharper and smaller than tees and easier to clean grooves with)

Grips i clean with warm water about once a month or every 2 months.

Always wipe finger prints off the shaft...

I wipe 'em clean after every shot.

Pretty Light cleaning (grooves, wipe shafts ) after every "round".

Heavier cleaning after range sessions (grooves, numbers, stampings, shafts , grips ,etc)

Probably every 2 weeks I do a full polish , buff and paintfill touchup along with a good grip clean/scrub and a polish of the shafts. The woods (paint) get a buff with glaze compound , the faces get buffed and polished and then the whole head gets waxed.

Putter gets done as needed.

Once a month the whole bag gets dumped and blown out inside.

Any good household cleaner with warm water and soft, nylon brush will work to clean club faces as well as grips. Dry them all off with the towel that is ready for the laundry. I also play bare handed, and cleaned grips remain nice and tacky -- Tour Velvet. One of the best bits of advice I received was to always carry a wet/damp towel to wipe the club after every shot. Biggest hoot on a course was cleaning a fellow player's clubs that were caked with gunk. When we asked why she didn't use her towel, she said, "It might get dirty." Go figure!? I'm very attached to my micro-fiber towel and also use a cheap water bush thingame when conditions or accummulation warrants.

I clean my clubs once a week. The only time I clean a face is after a muddy bunker shot that's it. If I get something stuck on the face I take the flat side of a tee to the club face scrap it off and then use the tee in the grooves.

Maybe once a year I use 1500 grit wet sand to my drivers 3/5woods to remove tee mark pits. This pretty much polishes the face to near new and very soft. This gets rid of anything range balls can mark on the club face. Car polishes can clean most ghost ball marks so don't go crazy with sandpaper.

Wipe/brush my faces/grooves after a shot, and clean faces/grooves with soap, brush and water before every round. Does the 1500 grit mess with the grooves any?

I haven't ever ruined a groove and I still have white paint. I guess the paint could come off but with any scrubbing this can happen. I can't see a danger unless you go crazy every week sanding. Try a nasty looking/feeling clubface and you would be surprized how much smooths out. I really do it because a soft/smooth face will produce less spin than a ruff/gritty face.

I spend a lot of time with car show detailing and I've used every liquid and bar there is and sometimes you have to give into the sandpaper. Another sport that is crazy about sanding is bowling and you can sand balls tons of times before you see manufactures marks thinning out and they are made of resin covers. Bowling surfaces usually go 500,1000,1500,2000,4000.
