Seeing that this event is less than a week away I thought I'd make a post of the event information along with a confirmation of everyone who is going to be there. Matt please correct and update the information if necessary.


What: Official first ever (at least to my knowledge) AZ Golfwrx meet!!

Time: Sunday, April 26, 2009
9:30am first tee time

How To Get Here
From Sky Harbor International Airport (Phoenix, Arizona)
• Leaving the airport, follow signs indicating US Highway 10 EAST (towards Tucson)
• Proceed on US Highway 10 EAST for roughly 9 miles (traveling south)
• Exit 164 Queen Creek Road/AZ Highway 347, turning RIGHT off exit
• Proceed on AZ 347 for roughly 15 miles
• Turn RIGHT on West Highway 238 heading northwest
• Proceed 2.5 miles and locate white picket fence and Southern Dunes sign and turn RIGHT

I have not been playing or practicing recently but I am so excited about this meet!

 

I will be bringing my (future) bro-in-law with me.

 

Won't be too difficult to spot me, look for the Asian kid decked out in all PING gears!

I will be there... have not picked up a club in over a month, but who cares this will be a good time. I will be easy to spot... just look for the old guy that is hobbling around and bitching about how his wife signed him up for a 25 mile mountain bike race the day before the event. P.S. I will be in a cart... and if you ask me to walk I will hit you with my 4 iron.

You know I am in. I am working on the pairings now and getting the final confirmations from the course. I am super pumped about this and looking forward to sunday.

 

Ill be the guy in the Florescent orange FJ shirt (sorry Calvin no pink) with the black silver/orange bag. I will prob be there around 8 or so to greet everyone. and get used to the green speed again.

First Group 9:30Am

Medicapitain, One Putt Blunder, Mohacker, and Malasuerte

 

Third Group aprox 9:50

Closest to the Pin will be on #4 and long drive on # 13, Winner of each gets their choice of one of 2 GolfWRX hats or the one visor I have.

Not sure about the re round, but as far as the greens go, I was out there a few weeks ago to check it out and they are slower than when we were there they still had some decent pace to them. Im guessing around a 10.5 or 11 on the stimp. The were a bit crusty though with all the wind we have had.

We'd all like to live vicariously through what you've put together. Can you post names, HDCP's and put a poll together so that we can vote on who will be the low gross winner and see what kind of prognosticators we all are? Kind of the Phoenix GolfWrx Masters...

If we do this often enough with a fairly regular group of guys, we can do a Ryder cup style type of deal!

Ya assuming we all get a long, we should definitely try and get out more, even if its just a foursome here or there. I'm definitely looking to play a lot more golf this summer, and playing with friends is just that much better.

Especially this time of year, course rates are dropping, days are getting longer. Sure it's hot as hell during the day... but you gotta roll with the punches.

As far as keeping a running stats type set up, here's a website Ive been using recently, its awesome for stats!

It keeps a running tally of like every stat you could think of. Avg score on par 3, 4,5's, avg putts on each, I could go on and on. Heres a link to my profile, browse around and stuff. Cool features.

Just a quick update I had to change the last 2 groups as Lamont (Golfluvzme) can not play. I bumped White Stakes to the 4th group and added Brian91's guest in the 3rd group.

 

BTW I like the ryder cup idea and with summer comming we can play some nice courses for cheap.

 

I am super excited to play on sunday with all the crap that has been going on it will be a welcomed day of relief for me.

Fewest putts....I'll go with *sigh* just because I like the screen name.

 

There will have to be a category for "Does Matt hit a fairway?" :rolleyes: Although I have to stick up for the orange. I like the orange. Need to get one for myself, I don't think sand shows up as well when you're hitting out of zillions of bunkers every day....... :russian_roulette:

 

Damn I wish I could get out there for this one....those of you who haven't played with Matt or Calvin are in for a good day(and a clinic if Calvin is on....)

Sounds like I'm not the only one who hasn't been playing much lately. Hit the range for the first time in about a month yesterday and was absolutely puring it. Of course you all probably know what that means ... I probably won't hit another decent shot for at least 2 weeks :fool:

 

 

I'm definitely up for making this a regular thing and some kind of team format would be a blast.
