Chicagoland GolfWrx Event...

So I have a man crush on this site...respect and appreciate all of the people who selflessly contribute in terms of knowledge, opinion, sarcasm and humor. Being someone who is known for organizing events, I figured it's time to take the lead and create an event for all of the Chicagoland GolfWrx'ers to get together...hit the ball around, maybe have a post round libataion, validate all the lies...uh...stories we share on this wonderful site and take our on-line partnership to the next level.

 

From a scheduling perspective, I'm looking at a Sunday in late June/early July...late morning/early afternoon tee time in a relatively central part of the area.

 

Will try to keep the greens fees around $100...hey, it's Chicago in summer...we have to deal with it. Will work toward a nice course...possibly Cog, Mistwood, Cantigny, Prairie Landing, Klein Creek, 7 Bridges, etc.

 

Let me know if you're interested...volume will somewhat dictate our cost and if anyone wants to sign up to help me with this endeavor, send a PM.

 

The GolfWrx'ers in AZ set the bar it's up to us to raise it to another level.

Gotta love our Huskies. Had to replace my NIU bag...it ripped in a couple of pockets. Still holds a place of importance in the laundry room with the back up set.

 

We're starting slow but we'll put something fun together.

I am in, live in Arlington Heights and have a few other buddies who would be in as well. Cantigny, Klein, Indian Lakes, Prairie, etc... have played them all and any of those courses plus others I forgot to mention would be great. Just let us know.

If you want to play a private track on the south side/ suburbs, I can arrange that. I am a member at Prestwick in Frankfort. We have the local US open Qualifier Monday. I can get on a few other courses like Floosmoor without any problem. I need some lead time to set it up.

OK...quick update...looks like we'll easily have enough for 4 foursomes, possibly 5. Will start getting quotes from Dubs, Whitetail Ridge, Prairie Landing and Ruffled Feathers. Golf Chi, I'll send you a PM on your club and thank you for the gracious offer.

Please keep me posted on this... I played in the AZ Glfwrx outing and I am looking to get home (Milwaukee) in late June early July for a family visit. Playing in another wrx outing would be fun. Hopefully the dates align with the moons and I can work this out.

I play Tue, Wed, Thu at Whisper Creek - I bought a sweet membership deal they had going. For $500 I get a range pass, access to the back (members only) range with practice bunker, and larger short game area, also less crowded back there. I also get twilight golf, after 3:00 seven days a week for only $10 with a GPS enabled cart. Normal twilight rate is $35 M-F and 41 weekends. I've only had it for a month and have payed for it already.

 

If anyone else in the area is interested, I believe that they are going to pro-rate this starting June 1st. Cut it to $350ish.

OK...we have a date and golf course. We'll be playing Sunday June 28th at Mistwood. As of right now they are holding 24 spots for us and if there is more interest, we can most likely go beyond that. The cost is $79.00/player and that includes golf, cart, range balls and they throw in a sleeve of balls per person as well. The first tee time is at Noon and we'll have the next 5 spots as well.

 

Mistwood is off of 355 and pretty easy to get to regardless of where you're coming from. It's a very nice course and if you haven't played it before, you can check it out at:

Please send me a PM if you intend on playing and include an email address for communications purposes. I'll need to give them a final count no later than June 15 so please let me know within the next week or so. We'll also pull together a couple of gaming opportunities for closest to the pin and possibly skins.
