Guys, I plan on playing a course (not sure which one yet) on August 19th on the tail end of a business trip in Phoenix. Are there any that are in bad condition right now? I've got it narrowed to Grayhawk, TPC Stadium, and Troon North. Also, if anyone would like to play, I'll be by myself and would like to meet up with someone. I'll be getting a 7:00ish tee time. ive got Wednsdays off, Id more than likely be down to play. Ive yet to play any of the courses youve mentioned, so Im not a good critic of their current conditions. Those courses are quite the trek for me but what they hell, anything to help an out of towner out I suppose hahah.

Of that list Talking stick, Kierland, Whirlwind will prob be in the best shape and all are great courses to play. I will add none of these 3 are true desert courses especially Kierland. Whirlwind is prob the closest.

I'm interested in a desert course, what would be a good "true" desert course? I want it to be a nice track as well...Grayhawk?

Grayhawk is good the raptor course is where they play the frys open during the summer series on tour. Wekopa will give you the best real desert experience since there are no homes on the course. Others good ones would be troon north pinnacle is the better of the two. Boulders south is great as well. Grayhawk is 35 right now Wekopa is 45 Troon varies on golfnow and boulders is 45 during the week 60 on the weekends

Ok heres probably one of the best deals out right now.
Rio Salado Golf Course, its a 9 hole Par 34. A fun course where you can hit every club, and the fairways are pretty tight too so you gotta keep it straight. The greens are always very pure with some pretty nasty contours on some holes, but a very fun course to say the least. Its in tempe right behind Big Surf.
BTW, the courses claim to fame is that its where Paul Casey did all of his practicing while at ASU. Don't overlook it because of its price or it only being 9 holes.

These were on a different level..I knew something was up when the cart guy and the Stadium course said..." go over to the Champions course if you want the best greens in the state"......I guess the greens at the Stadium are on par but the fairways are still a bit junky..

Ended up with 38/40 14 putts on the front 19 on the back hit 12 greens one birdie on the first hole. Had some good looks just couldnt convert. That and I was getting out driven by 30 yards on every hole.

I played early in the morning, as I will tomorrow too so I got them freshly rolled/mowed....but I swear I have never seen cups cut so sharp like you see on TV....I, Me, Medicaptain...the three Putt Blundering machine had 26 putts....6 birdies, four bogeys...(two legit...two STUPID)...its not very often I "jones" to go putt...and I am jonesing for tomorrow morning

Its no fun hitting greens all day apparently i needed an extra challenge so i hit 3 bunkers and failed horribly. If anyone is driving down the southbound off ramp to franklloydwright and sees a ball can you pick it up for me? Smooth double on that hole. Actually maybe i shouldnt have made fun of bluefan75 yesterday for hitting bunkers all the time. Karma lol.
