These new wedges from Cleveland look great and feel awesome. Anyone know about alternative finishes Cleveland might release (gunmetal, satin, etc.)?

... agreed on the looks and feel.

i've heard that later in the year (depending on popularity) you can look for satin/rtg/etc.

i'm seriously thinking of getting the chrome and buffing it out to a satin finish because i like these things so much.

Mike,

How would you term their performance as compared to other wedges? I like the way it sets up but have not tried them out yet.

So how would one go about buffing out the chrome finish to get a satin finish?

I was checking out the DSG's the other week at a golf shop and was very impressed with the sole. It's looks like it opens up so easy that it appears that you could hit it straight up in the air with no worry about cutting the ball in half. I only saw chrome versions.

As for the question regarding buffing them out to satin, it can be easily done. These are some old pictures, but Russ/pm hacker and I did this to our wedges about two years ago using a 3m pad we bought at Home Depot. The Cleveland 588's and Vokey were all regular chrome finishes. It took a little work and sweat, but if you don't have a satinizing wheel available, this works pretty well.

I currently have the CG 10's, but after hitting the DSG's at a demo day in Rockford, Illinois last week, I'm going to change to the DSG's. They're very solid, and the unique sole grind makes them so versatile. I had no problem opening up a 56 degree wedge and hitting beautiful flop shots with ease. I'm a believer in these tools of the trade!!! As far as finishes, I talked to the rep and he hinted that some others may be coming later this year ... no time table was given though.

I finally saw one at golfsmith in person and while it was definately easy to open up, I was concerned when I set the club down at address. The leading edge was WAY off the ground, it seems like squared up the DSG's have a LOT of bounce.

I'm all for high bounce in wedges out of sand and heavy rough, but I don't particularly like it when I'm hitting a full shot. Anyone actually hit them off grass?

... i hear you. but, remember when you square the face up you're working with a narrow sole ... no problemo off tight lies (e.g. the 54* has 12* of bounce, but with the narrow sole it'll play with lower bounce). the 58* has 10* and the 60* (in keeping with 588 tradition) has only 3*. ... lowest bounce number out there.
