Yes,

Please start asking questions in this thread. From our previous audio chats, we have been able to cover 35-40 questions over an hour period and it comes out to about 12 type written pages. Very Rare opportunity to speak with the people who design your shafts and a chance to ask the "Source" for the straight information. This will be held the Sunday before the Masters and it will be at night so everyone should get a chance to stop by and listen. The question in this thread will have priority over the one asked in the Chat Room.

To see our previous Chats, see this thread>>>Here

Very generous of UST to spend the time and the donations!!! Especially the V2 Hybrid Shaft, that is tour issued only. That would be a nice pick up.

Is this the thread that we should ask the questions in Gxgolfer?

question<

when using accra shafts in bore through heads such as titleist, does ust recommend shafting full bore, or blind bore, and how does it affect the active tip section?

This Chat will be for UST labeled shafts. We plan to have ACCRA on soon afterwards!

I guess this one is for Don since it is more of an engineering question. We have seen many companies go to great lengths to advance technology in the shaft to provide what they believe is a better shaft. I.e. the fujikura rombax technology, the grafalloy comp nt's use of nanotube technology, etc. With the recent success of a somewhat less technologically advanced shaft in your V2 which doesnt claim to any technology using big fancy words, do you have any insight into the benefits of the V2 for a player with a higher swing speed over something with this technology that is supposed to make it play a little bit stiffer and with a lower ballflight.

As for my previous question, do you forsee yourselves advancing beyond the v2 given its amazing success and venturing into the nano tech/ rombax type technology in your shafts?

Can you provide any background into the thought and engineering that went into designing your shafts in the V2 line given that you intended them to be very complimentary to the larger headed drivers of today? I.e. did you do anything special in the design process to make these shafts ideal for the larger heads, and what seperates these from other shafts thus making them work in harmony with today's massive heads.

Also, as a current owner of v2 shafts in both my driver and fairway wood I find the v2's high trajectory that is advertised is actually the case, would you reccomend tipping it in a driver in order to bring the flight down?

Question:

With regards to the tour players using V2 shafts in bore thru clubs like Titleist drivers and fairways, how far are those players inserting thier TX flexed shafts in the heads? I would assume it wouldnt be full bore in a bore thru driver but maybe full bore in a fairway bore thru or maybe even tipped 1/2" or so.

Randy Stuart and Don Rahrig, I really have to say thank you for comming and thank you for making such great shafts, I presently use a V2 in my Launcher 460.

My question is this, with regards to the technologies out there, what directions do you see shaft technologies going, and how can these technologies improve the game?

But most importantly how can these technologies really help the average golfer?

 Will someone swap me an X-flex proto for my new TX-proto? :) ;) J/K

I would like to know what qualities UST shafts have that make them superior to competitors golf shafts? Second, being a graphic artist for many years, I have learned the impact that colors can have on consumer purchases. What would you say the percentage of buyers are, that purchase products based on looks as apposed to actual performance? Finally, do you think shaft graphics are going to go crazy within the next couple of years? If not, I think they should. My 2 cents! G,

thanks for the opp guys.

my question is based on tour player fitting. when I go to a pga event and hang out on the practice tee, I oftern see a rep bring a player a handfull of drivers. I know players find differences in heads and I imagine in shafts too - often when even the gauges say they are identical. How many players sometimes want the same model shaft in a head, but ask for 4 or 5 (or more) to further find that feel they are looking for? Care to name those who really are hard to please?

thanks,

lee

Thanks for coming guys. I put a V2 75 stiff in a 983K and it went from being a dog, to the driver that nothing has been able to knock out of the bag. At this time, the V2 is by far my favorite graphite shaft in a driver.

My questions.

1) Do you find that the design of different shafts leads them to perform better in different platforms (e.g. bore though Titleists vs shallow faced Taylor Mades) or do you feel confident that the shaft will be outstanding no matter what it goes into?

and

2) Are UST shafts "pre-spine aligned" or "pre-flo'ed" before the graphics are painted on, or do you feel that the shafts are consistent enough that they will perform well no matter the orientation in the head?

Thanks again, and major kudo's to the design, engineering, graphics, and financial guys who gave us (in the V2) a shaft that performs as well as or better than other companies $300 shafts at an affordable price point and in a very visually appealing package.
