r7 425 Shafts

Rombax shafts only??

Has TM softened its restrictions and allowed its staff players to play other shafts besides the Rombax now?

Was watching the Sprint Post Game and saw clips of Mike Weir using what looked like a V2 in his 425...

From what i've heard it has to leave the van with the rombax but after its out i don't think taylormade has any control over you reshafting it with something else

Yeah, TM will not release any r7 425 driver or fairway wood off the Tour van w/o a Rombax in it. I believe Mike has the old r7 w/ the V2 in it. This rule really sucks, but TM will soon have to produce all the top shafts in the new yellow & red TP graphics for their players to make it look like they are playing the Rombax, or they might piss off almost all their staff members.

according to the taylormade site, weir is using the r7 ht 10.5 with ust v2.

I think that anyone on Taylormade staff has to use a Rombax if they are going to use the 425. Anyone that isn't on Taylormade staff like Rod Pampling can use whatever shaft they want because Taylormade just pays them to use the head so that they can be "the number 1 driver on the PGA Tour". Goosen just switched to the 425 with Rombax at the Players and I'm guessing that he got a little bonus because he had the Grafalloy Blue in his r7 and seemed to like it becuase he never used the 425 when it first came out. Within two months I think Weir will be using the 425 with Rombax because of Taylormade pressuring him.
