TPC Final Round Comments

When you review the past winners in the last five years, it becomes more apparent to me why this tournament is not in the same category as the four major tournaments.

 

The course is good but not great. The course design creates numerous lucky bounces, and it allows average PGA tour players to win the event with more frequency than occurs in the four majors.

Craig Perks: 2002

 

Fred Funk: 2005

 

Stephen Ames: 2006

I would argue the British Open and PGA are lesser majors than the Master's or US Open. The only "crap" winners of those 2 in recent memory are Mike Weir and Jim Furyk.

 

I hear you but I believe The Open Championship (aka The British Open) has a much tougher field than The Masters or the US Open.

Garcia is a choker

That's a pretty brutal way of putting it but it is absolutely the case. If the grey matter between his ears ever catches up to his raw athletic ability he'll be dangerous. At this point their camp might be best served if daddy/coach goes to university and gets a masters in psych. and starts working on the real prob. I hate to be so brutal and negative. It just hurts to see a guy with such amazing skills crumble in the final round again and again.

 

I wouldn't label today as a choke for Sergio. He had one really good round this week and today he had a slow start made worse by taking some chances that he shouldn't have. Today was not the day for risk taking as the course really magnifies the failures. So call it horrible course management and perhaps immaturity, but I wouldn't call it a choke. He still can't putt well and until he does all the ball striking skill in the world will not win many tournaments.

jim furyk is awesome hes always in the hunt. If he ever picks up some distance it will be tiger who?

 

 

I like Jim Furyk but your comment is a real stretch. Among other things, Furyk doesn't have the short game that Tiger has.

 

 

I don't know of too many guys that have a short game on the same level as Tiger's. Furyk's short game is not as good as Tiger's, but still not too shabby probably.

furyk doesnt have the short game tiger has? dude hits it like 260 short games the only thing that hes got lol He can beat tiger now just imagine if he had the length and could get to those short irons he hits soooo well! man funky swing but hardly ever hits a bad shot. Guys consistent just a numbers game now tho he wont ever pick up those yards with his swing which is his bread and butter and also his achilles heel. But hes for sure no hack like the one guy said
