distance gain on 905R 8.5 or 7.5 degree

would it be waste of money
i was wondering if any one has seen alot of distance gain on there 905R in a 8.5 or 7.5 degree driver all the bad coments ive herd about this driver has been in 10.5 or 9.5 degrees

would it be a waste of money if it has the same distance as the 905 T or S

reason im asking this is that the 905R hasent came in most of the stores yet in virginia

I had the 905T 9.5* with Aldila NV 65 stiff and now I have the 905R 9.5* with Mitsubsihi Diamana Redboard 73X and i've gained atleast 20 yards of carry. I believe most of it has to do with the shaft but the 905R sits alot more square, my 905T looked closed at adress so it gives me more confidence not to mention the 60cc bigger headsize.

You will need to spend a little time with different lofts. My experience: Last year I used a 905S. I hit the 9.5 a little low, and the 10.5 a little high, but my preference was for the extra control the 10.5 gave me. This year I decided to switch to the 905R. The first loft I tried was 9.5°, and knew right away that it was perfect for me. The ball flight seems right between the 905S 9.5 and 10.5, and I have no issues with too much spin, perhaps because of the 1° less loft.

i hit my 905s 8.5 perfect flight, nice mid flight that only loses about 10 15 yards with 10-20 mph wind in your face but like every one i want to max my distance

 

 

i found out that a golfgalaxy has the 905Rs now and hope to try them today but when the 905 T and S came out they only had 9.5 and 10.5 so if i do go and get bad results with the 9.5 it still wont let me down about the driver ill just try them all out at a local titleist demo day with custom shafts

I hit both drivers for a long time this weekend. I was on a range by myself, and I marked the balls I hit with my 905s 8.5 (Fujikura Fit-On 11 Pro 95 stiff shaft). I left the balls I hit with the 905r 8.5 (stock Speeder stiff shaft) unmarked. The trajectory of the 905s was lower, and I had to adjust my swing for the less-open face of the 905r. I felt like I was hitting the 905r farther, but when I walked out to look at the results, the distance average was identical, and the dispersion very close. (The range was flat and there was very little wind, so the only variable I couldn't control was shaft differences.)

 

My conclusion: unless you miss the big sweet spot on the 905s often, the 905r is not worth the money to upgrade.

thanks for the replys i hit my driver very solid even tho my slump is still with me not always in the short stuff but im very close to getting it back :tongue:

 

the past two months have been windy ones and my course always has wind in our face so i never know my true distance

 

but you never know untill you try it /which i will this week/ but the only guy at the course i play has a 905R 8.5 tour with a accra shaft but every weekend he comes up im working :)

 

in a way i hope i hit it shorter cuz of the money but the other way around i want to be bombing like adam scott and villegas ;)
