Thank god the putters are gonna be $160. Now I can buy two (if there are two 'firmness' options) in the anser style and still be paying only one 'premium' price.
I hope they are worth the hype...It will take a lot to take out the NP 2.
All this VR wood talk is getting me moist. Sadly, the ho in me will still pursue the Dymo 380.

I thought the same thing about buying two different putters. I have a feeling that they will only release one insert though.

My guess is there won't be any pictures available until the driver models are published on the USGA and R&A conforming driver list. After that I would think we will start seeing some of the new drivers being used by the Nike tour staff and there will be some pics starting to show up at that point.
Thanks! Will the new VR line of driver, fws and hybrids feature str8-fit technology?
i hope its not str-8 fit technolody. i want glued!!!
i hope it's not str-8 fit either. they need to have a players club that is glued...period!

a str-8 fit option would be good for some. just looking at the masses, these adjustable drivers are the worst thing that you can get. for the dynamic player...there's value mainly in opening the face and adjusting the lie angle. i have yet to meet a mid/high capper that improved their game with one of these adjustable clubs, you can't fix swing flaws with it. anyone that needs to close a driver face needs to be working on their swing and not fiddling with a wrench. TM and it's wrench and weight $h*t is a joke.

my driving was bordering garbage till i canned the str8-fit and went back to my SQ Tour...i'm sure some like it but really, at its core, its unnecessary.
So, it was the STR8-Fit technology that made your driving bad??? Now that is very interesting.....
no, it was all the tinkering...plus the fact that it's almost 46" inches long. before i knew it i'm tinkering with the face angle, lie angle, my swing...ahhhhhhhh

i also said that i'm sure its good for some, but there are many who don't want it. There just needs to be more options so you don't have to get one or the other. For me all that tinkering turns into "paralysis by analysis". i now feel comfortable in making my golf swing and not thinking about all the different things i can do to my driver...

I highly doubt we will see any new VR musclebacks anytime soon. I'm going to just get mine rechromed as I prefer that look over the glazed.
i would think every company is going to bring new irons out or slightly modified ones, because of the new groove rule. the pros will be playing different looking irons and thats every companys marketing scheme, play what the pros play.
Nike insiders have stated that Nike will be updating theIr GI line of irons next year. I believe a Sumo hybrid set and some sort of Super GI set also. Nothing slated fir additional
players irons at this time. VR driver, fws and hybrids along with the new putter is going to put Nike close to the top IMO.
maybe its just me wishful thinking but they need to make the vr blades look like ak's. IMO they would look even better with the swoosh on the center of the muscle and the vr logo on the toe.
I agree and I think those would look real cool! If you chrome out the current VR blades they will look nice as well as very unique. I'm going to do this in the off season with all of my irons and wedges.

Nike will finally release a line of GI clubs next year - woods, hybrids, irons and putters. Will not be marketed under the "Sumo" name. Most likely an "SS" line playing of the Sling Shot name. I hear the dariver would be called "SS 460" or wht ever size driver it is. Sort of playing off the Chevy Super Sport lines.

Nike seems to be adding a lot if new clubs next year. The line you speak
of plus the VR line of drivers, fws and hybrids. Sounds like it will be a good year!
If only they would take the TW off the blades..............
i actually agree with you here...

i am a big fan of TW(im not ashamed of it), but there's just something about having the tw on my clubs that feels awkward. i just removed the paintfill in the TW and that red line across the middle of the blade and it really looks sharp.

I do not mind the TW logo but I hate the frosted look on the other half of the club. Does anyone know if the grooves are legal for next year or not?

Grooves...

If you are a professional golfer on one of the top tours, or if you plan to try to qualify for one of the three Open Championships, you’ll probably need new conforming wedges by Jan. 1, 2010.

If you plan to qualify for any other USGA championship, you’ll need new conforming wedges by 2014.

If you don’t play those specific events and are an amateur, you are good to go until at least 2024

I was just trying to verify if the current TW blades had legal grooves as of next year. Some say they will conform and others say they do not.

Again,

If you are not a pro or playing in any of those tournaments...yes they will be legal
yes. vr's should'nt have a tw logo on them IMO. they made a big mistake putting the tw logo on the vr's, saying play the same clubs tiger plays and he's not even playing them anymore.
I think the clubs Tiger is playing currently is the early prototype of the VR TW irons without the retail markings.
