Mizuno MP32 custom irons?

what did I get by accident??
I bought a set of slightly used MP32 heads and found a strange looking serial number on the hosel (see pic).

All heads have the same number.

I just shafted them with NSPro 1150 GH Tour shafts and the head weights are dead on spec. So I am wondering if I got lucky and found a Japanese Made custom / Tour set?

I have MP-32s with both DG S-300 shafts as well as NS Pro950 shafts.

All new MIZUNO clubs now use laser etching of the serial numbers. Sorry to disappoint you, but I do not think that they are Tour spec.

Not sure if true, but I was recently told if I order MP32s with Nippons they would come from Japan.

I am trying the 1150 because I like heavier clubs in general. It seems that more static weight and more swingweight slow down my swing and help to keep a smooth tempo.

I got the 1050 after some serious wrist problems. I tried graphite shafts..but they did not work for me. The closest regarding shock absorbance were the 1050 which I´m still playing in my MP32 set.

After I found out about the 1150 GH Tour shafts, I found some and just installed them in my (new, soon to become my backup) set of the same irons. Next week, I´ll be able to compare them side by side.

That´s basically the whole story. I had no chance for a demo...just bought them based on the reviews here and on the great experience with the 1050. To me, the Nippons are the most underrated steel shafts. I don´t see myself changing "back" to DGS or Rifle of PX anytime soon. Same distance and same consistency with better feel.

Hi Ziggy & everyone,

I am hoping to finalize my MP32 order in the next day or so and still deciding on shafts. Been reading everything (this site) over the last couple months and had some sessions hitting indoors (yeah, not the greatest here in Canada).

I have hit indoors the NS950, Tour Flighted Rifles and DGS300 in various iron models. Only hit DGS300 in the MP32s. DG would be fine but willing to try something new and want higher ball flight.

I am between Nippons NS950S and TFR, but leaning towards TFR 5.5.

One issue: Mizuno only lists NS950 for custom orders. Like you, I worry this shaft will be too light. Can you actually order from Mizuno NS1050 or NS1150? Not sure want to go through a re-shafting project.

The great comments about Nippon have me interested.

I would be happy to hear any comments from players who have actually played both Nippon and TFR.

Cheers.

If you want something in the DGS or TFR weight range, you WILL be disappointed by the 950 Nippons.

I also like my irons to fly high and that´s one reason why I got the 1050. I played TFR 6.0 and they had a slightly higher ballflight than the DGS 300, but I did not compare these shafts side by side in the same iron. So a fair judgement is impossible.

If you don´t want to go through a re-shaft action, the TFR from the factory will be the better choice than the 950 Nippon.

Maybe you´ll find some 1050 pulls.... 1150 are really rare...but 1050 are around quite a few times.

Good luck....

Your response rings true with the little bit that I do know. Just hitting inside I preferred TFR over the NS950.

Were you happy with the flex of TFR 6.0? S300 is said compariable to Rifle 5.8. I hit a 6 iron 170. I am thinking of going with 5.5.

Thanks alot for the useful comments.

Since that serial number begins with a letter it came from a stock set. If there had just been numbers then it would have been a custom fitted set. I hope this helps.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
