Spin Milled Wedges

Should shaft and degree bent match??
I have a question about wedges. I am about to get a 52 and 56 spin milled wedges. However when on the Titleist sight I noticed that the 52 comes standard with S300 shaft (which I currently play), however the 56 is in a S200, should I change this to match the set or is it a lighter shaft for a reason. Also I play my irons 1 degree upright, should I bend the wedges as well, or leave them as is?

you've got to ask yourself, what kind of feel do you prefer and what kind of shots are you hitting? wedges aren't about distance but about accuracy. now if a 52 is gap wedge for you, then i would use the same shaft you use in your irons, but maybe soft step it just to get a little more feel in the tip, this will also give you some more spin. now a 56 your not going to be going after the ball with a full swing, so a little weaker shaft will be alright. some will also say you want stiffer shafts because they are tighter in dispersion. its all about feel and individual.

as a test right now, i've got some nike forged wedges being reshafted. i play rifle 6.0 in my irons, so i am going with a 6.0 in a 53* (originally s400) which will still have a low trajectory, but softer tip to get some more spin on the ball and give it a little more feel. i'm going with 5.5 in a 58* and 60* (both originally s400). its definetly going to be more feel and more spin, but not uncontrollable. i don't use these clubs for full shots, and want something that is consistent in distance, and will land soft. if this test works out, i might do the same for my vokeys, but i must confess, i'm pretty happy with the s200 in my 52*, 54*, 58* and 60* oil cans.

Yeah sorry about that--a 52 200 series wedge, and a spin milled 56 (for some reason I thought there was a 52 spin milled)

So I will have to test them out--I have callway forged wedges with the stock shaft and have no issues with that, and they are not bent upright either.

I was just wondering if it were better to do that or not. So I will probably keep the stock shafts golfernut has some great points-what about bending them to match the set?

Don't worry too much about the weight, the difference between S200 and S300 in taper tipped irons is 1g

S200 / S300 / S400

129 / 130 / 132

Don't lose too much sleep over it. :idhitit:

As far as lie angles, why not just fit them yourself. Pick up some impact tape at golfsmith, stick it on the sole of the wedge, get an office binder and cut off one of the faces (as a lie board) and take it out to the range with you. That way you can actually see the ballflight as well and not just be hitting into a net. If the mark is towards the heel it needs to be flat, if it's to teh toe it needs to be bent upright.

Hope that helps.
