There are a few threads on the FT hybrid out there already but I'll give it a go. I have had just about every hybrid available and they all have strong points and are all substantially better than the comparble long iron, but all of them had something that they could have done better. The FT hybrid is the first hybrid that I can say does everything very well.

SHAFT

I like NVS shafts in my driver and fairway woods. Callaway changed the NVS somewhat with the fusion version, but they did not screw the shaft up. It still is a stout shaft for a stock shaft and may be a better shaft than the aftermarket NVS. It is roughly 5 grams heavier than the after market shaft and approaches lightweight steel in weight.

DISTANCE

On the long side as hybrids go, but the big thing here is that it has very consistent distance more like an iron.

Forgiveness

As forgiving as any hybrid I have hit. Stupid easy off of the deck or off the tee. Misses have great distance.

Trajectory

Mid high to high with no distance penalty. However, the club is so versatile that you can really move the ball positon around to comfortably get whatever trajectory you are looking for.

Out of the Rough

Money! Even the 17 degree.

Workability

Real strong in this department. Easy to hit straight, but when I have had tree trouble, the FT was easy to bend the ball with and very controllable.

Overall

As I said, does it all and does it for me with the stock neutral configuration and shaft. They actually have a great chance of staying in the bag for the year. As fickle as I am, that is saying a lot.

Just demo-ed this (and the Heavenwood) this morning...have to say, the Fusion was head and shoulders above the Heavenwood...I really like it.

If only it wasn't so darned expensive...if this club were $100-150 I'd have likely bought it on the spot.

But at $200+ I just have a hard time justifying that kind of $$...I'll wait a year or two for the FT-4 to come out, and pick one up then....
