Honestly, the Numero Uno cajone in the game is the new Platinum.

On a side note, the Pro V1 blows the HX Tour 56 out of the pond. Why does everyone like the 56? It is donkey sh*t compared to the regular HX Tour. Do you realize that Phil is the only tour player that uses the 56 instead of the HX Tour? (and that's only because he prefers to blade flop shots over greens than bump-and-run to 3 feet)

You know you have a way with words.........

As far as I am concerned the New Improved HX 56 is the best ball out there for alot of reasons.

#1 Durability

#2 Consistancy

#3 Length

This ball is better than the ProV1 in alot of ways but the most is the fact that it spins consistant on approach shots. You can always judge the spin on these balls where as the ProV1 will spin of the Earth one time and none the next. The 56 is a one hop and stop ball with all my irons. It also has a better spin rate off the cobhead on a Driver than the Spinning ProV1. If you have any game at all you could never say that this ball is crap I think it definately gives the ProV1 a run for it's money and IMO is much better.

Of those who have played both, which one scuffs or cuts the most. I believe I tried the tour 56 early last year and did not like the durability.

That is why I said the New Improved 56 that just came out it is in the shinny black and gold box and says Improved on it instead of New and it is very durable and I think even longer than the original.

Give it a try and you won't be dissapointed but that is my opinion you have to find out for yourself.

I find it a little funny that you would presume that Phil is playing a bad golf ball and "he prefers to blade flop shot over greens than bump and run to 3 feet". Im pretty sure that if any of us on this web site had the game of Phil Mickelson we would not be on this site much at all. :idhitit: . I respect any PGA tour player very much and I'm sure if its good enough for a pro, its definatley good enough for a twice a week golfer like me or anyone else for that matter. Thats just my opinion.

Wether or not it's good for a tour player doesn't mean it's gonna be good for the 2 a weeker. The Pro V1x is the best ball hands down. I can't even begin to describe how much Titleist balls are better than any other ball out there (Including the HX Tour/56). It's no contest. Callaway should give up and concintrate on making some better players irons! :idhitit:

I agree that the particular golf ball a tour player uses should have little to do with what ball a twice a week golf should play. Saying that, I see alot of players that do not have the swing or swing speed to be playing the Pro V1x ball and would be better suited with other golf balls out there. I find it strange that so many people think that only one company can produce a decent golf ball, in particular, Titleist. Do you not think that a company like Callaway, Nike or Bridgestone can basically replicate a ProV1x because it is being done. Hell, there are ways around copyrights when your a multi billion dollar a year company.

There is no ubiquitous "#1 Ball in Golf Anymore". There was a point in time when the only question was what compression was your Titleist Professional, and that time is no longer.

There are golf balls out there made for everyone. I am a low-spin player, so playing the ProV1X / One Black is not a good decision for me. However, playing a higher spin ball, such as the HX Tour / HX Tour 56 are great for my game.

Just because it is the "#1 Ball in Golf for YOU" doesn't mean its the "#1 Ball in Golf".
