Niscur24's Golf Bag - 2016 Update!!!!! NIKE TIME

Recommended Posts

And in true HO fashion I have a Vapor Pro inbound to round out all 3 of the 2015 drivers. Scored a mint copy from global for $12.50 after coupons and GIFTCARDS.

Also have a project X LZ 60 6.0 with a flexloft adapter on it inbound thats going to get tipped to hopefully play like a 6.5/7.0 straight in. And I'm going to play around with a voodoo XNV7 in all three heads.

So now I can put all three drivers head to head with 4 different shafts all playing at the same lengths.

LONG UPDATE!!!

Since I was TDY for a little while the goodies and a Origin B1-01 were waiting for me, along with a raised eyebrow wife, when I got back. The VFP irons continue to impress me and I finally got to hit the 2-iron. The irons are wearing very nicely from the two range sessions I have on them. Just like I expected the LE and face are wearing from impact as is the transition edges/seams from face to side/heel/bottom. Below is the 8 iron which gets hit the most as it's my warm up/finish and go to club when things get out of whack. The 2I is pretty cool to hit. Its much more forgiving than any players CB/Blade but its no where near as forgiving or easy to hit as a 5 wood/hybrid. It was a little intimidating at first and my mind said hit the "stinger" so I was in overspeed mode. Once I stopped that and was swinging normally it produced some very nice penetrating shots with a slight fade that appeared to hit the ground hot and run. I really cant wait to hit a normal golf ball with it as with our range balls the long irons seem to all fly about the same distance when nutted and you only see a distance progression with the shorter irons. I could draw it but I was more inconsistent with it "trying" to hit a draw vs my normal fade flight. Really liking the KDS tour V's too and with some swing tweaks I am trying to make they are really performing well.

Also got the Vapor Pro out today with the LZ60 shaft before I cut it down. Shaft felt great but at 45.5" I had literally no control with it. I replaced the shaft with the Miyazki JDL at 44" and man what a friggin bomber. Set it to 10.5 netural and was able to hit my little fade or turn it over if I wanted. The Vapor Flex really felt dead today to me for some reason after hitting the fly and pro so well. It was the odd man out today and I still haven't really figured it out yet. May end up unloading it as its very inconsistent for me. Even switching shafts between all 3 did not help and the Fly/Pro clearly out played the Flex. Ended up picking up a FUBUKI Alpha 80X to play with as well so the stock diamana that came with the PRO is getting yanked and replaced with it once I get some adapter ferrules. The LZ60 will be pulled and tipped/cut to get the playing length at 44" like the other shafts.

And the ranges' putting green was closed so I could not roll the Origin B101 that I picked up while I was gone. Incredibly disappointing as I love the way it rolls on carpet and really couldn't wait to try it out. Decided on a wedge setup for now. I'm going to throw the VFP AW wedge in the bag and I ordered a 52/56 pair of square grind engages that I will bend to 53/57. Hoping Nike releases a 48* engage but the AW should work for now

I can't believe I'm about to say this...but after some self reflection and current club inventory I think it's about time to call it quits on club purchases for a little while. With all three of the 2015 drivers and several shafts to swap out, plus 3 sets of irons and 4 sets of wedges etc I'm covered on all fronts.

Same goes for shoes and clothes.... Keep trying to convince myself that I need something and the reality is I don't right now. 12 pairs of shoes with 2 pairs never worn yet and I keep thinking I need more.

I'm going to try to not buy anything for a solid 2 months. Also have kids starting summer camp for the first time and our faithful plasma just died so this will be a big step for me to put other things before golf crap.

Well the rest of the last of my club purchases are here....These were ordered before my 2 month hiatus from buying clubs and such...Loving Global Golf right now the last few clubs that I ordered MINT and were able to use 15-20% off coupons for have showed up brand spanking new!

Also had a great day at the range today with all the Nikes. For now I have found the shaft for the FLEX that flat works. The Fubuki Alpha 80X feels wonderful and produces some straight bombs with the head set at 10.5N and the flex cartridge back. It is now comparable to the FLY and PRO and its competition time. In reality I feel comfortbale swapping any of the three into the bag as they are all very similar: 80G shaft, Untipped X, 44" Total Length. They are all monsters though and I'm totally happy with all three.

Still impressed with the FLY PRO irons. Spent a lot of time today hitting 9 ball groups using 3 clubs per group hit three times. I'm really trying to to just beat balls straight ahead anymore. The goal was to hit all three the same distance/target as the shortest club. So using AW,PW,9 I would try to hit all three the same length as the AW. They were incredible easy to flight down and I was swinging well enough to accomplish what I wanted to through the 6 iron. It was a little more difficult trying to hit a 4/5 iron the same distance as the 6 but by playing a fade I was able to accomplish it at least once out of the three shots otherwise I'd fly them right over or dead right trying to take something off. The 2 iron was much better today as well but I'm thinking about re-shafting it with graphite. The head feels a little light with the 120V and I feel like I lose it while swinging. Thinking maybe something in the 100G range like my trusty PX Blue 6.5 may make this this perform like my other hybrids which would be wonderful. The matching AW is a great club and was great for normal swings but more important it performed very well in the short game. I was a little concerned using a "set" wedge but this one works and works great. No need to pick up an actual "wedge".....unless dat engage 48 drops.

FINALLY got to roll the Origin B1-01 today and man it feels awesome. But I had a problem on short putting blowing everything by 2-3 feet. The ball, just like the method, seems to jump off the face vs a solid milled putter and I need to work on those short puts trying not to kill it. Longer putts were much easier to roll and get close.

2-Iron Tinkering time...

Removed the Tour V 120 from the VFP 2 iron and replaced it with an NV 105X hybrid. Finished length is now 39.75" and i'm hoping this will be close to a 5 wood replacement. The VFP irons take a collared ferrule which sucks because I didnt have one that fit any better than one without a collar. But after sanding the shaft down to fit the .355 hosel I really didnt need one since the shaft was centered and snug. Head weighed in a 230.2 grams which I felt was a little light so I added a 4g tip weight and if I need more I'll hot melt the head.

Nice set, looks like you're quite the tinkerer.

Quit big difference in the VR forged and Vapor fly pro - you ever thought of going Fly pro in long irons and VR in short?

Yep always tinkering around. I wouldn't combine these two sets as the lofts are so jacked on the VFP that there really isn't an overlap point without bending. Plus the VFP actually feel damn good and the PW/AW are quite playable so no need to mix them for me.

It got here Tuesday..And still looks just as sweet as the few I fondled in Tokyo last month. May try to tip the 73S to play more like an X or swap in a voodoo XNV7 or RIP'd NV85X I have lying around. Curious to know how deep the hosel is as this is my first glued hosel wood in hell 4+ years!

Well my first round with both drivers was pretty damn good. The course was dead today due to weather so I was alone the entire round. Took advantage and played "2" rounds of golf. One with the TW and one with the PRO. Also played each with different balls using a mix of 20XI, 20XI-S, and Lethals.

Shot an 85 using the PRO.

Shot an 80 using the TW.

The PRO failed me twice or should I say I made two bad swings with the PRO on the backside that put me in the water and OB and that's the scoring difference between the two. Both drivers traded blows in regards to accuracy/distance. Several times they were within yards of each other and I was in the fairway most of the time today. I play a nice cut/fade with all my clubs taking miss left out of play, and I noticed my miss (slice) was a little more exaggerated with the Vapor TW. Still in the fairway but a little further back and right. When nutted though the TW was longer carry wise for me with than the PRO but I would say I was more happy with the PRO's ball flight. I'm already a high ball hitter and the TW was going to heights unseen but it was still keeping up with the PRO. It was incredibly wet out so I was getting no roll at all with either and I imagine once it dries out the pro will hit the ground running while the TW won't based on ball flight. This was also my first round with the voodoo and with the ball flight being so high I may be looking to something lower launching but I want to hit it some more on the range before I make any changes.

First round also with the Vapor Fly Pro's, Engages, and the Origin. The irons were amazing and range work/experiences carried over to the course. The wedges were great as well after some warming up. The chipping/range areas were closed so I had to warm up on the course. Even dropped a ball to experience the 2 iron and made one swing with the club but oh man was it a good one. The origin needs a new grip. I putted ok with it but after using SS's for so long the stock grip wasn't comfortable once on the course.

Also played a full round with the FI Premieres and my feet are in love. Absolutely comfortable with terrific grip and totally dry feet given the conditions. Very happy I bought both colorways!

  • 4 weeks later...

Just got back from a 3.5 week vacation to Guam and Tokyo!!!!

In true SHOE-HO fashion I hit up the local Guam Ross only to come away with 4 Nike Polo's but before I left I managed to get these two pairs from some helpful form members!

13669695_567223163485091_1355150947811014998_n.jpg?oh=3410fb8802cb6ea6eec0c664523a65dd&oe=588F128B

Brings my current shoe count to 18 pairs, but I will be getting rid of several pairs now. Most likely my footjoys will be cut as I haven't worn them except for single range sessions. Can deviate from what my feet like......NIKE!!

Japan was rather uneventful. Its much harder to spend frivolously when:

A. The wife and kids are with me and dont want to browse golf crap.

B. I'm spending my own money vs my Per Diem when I'm out there for work.

C. The exchange rate being so sh!tty right now.

D. Did I mention the wife is with me.

But I still managed to snag one club I should have picked up while there in April....

13716000_567223123485095_3667391934032369747_n.jpg?oh=61824f4673872c7fb987858c8b1bbfda&oe=58364A3F

JDM Vapor Limited 2-Dot 3 wood!!!! I couldn't find the 5 wood with the stock shaft and I couldn't bring myself to spend $75 more to just cut a high dollar shaft (Diamana/GD) to fit it in my luggage. Soooooo ill check for it again when i'm there in a few months for work with no wife/kids/wife present. But man do I love the way this club looks! Probably going to shaft it up with something in the 90+ gram range of graphite from what I have lying around.

Oh and I picked this up to to support another hobby!

Annnnnnndddd I picked up a supercharger/cam/etc for the LS2 in the 240 to support yet another hobby as payment to myself for spending two weeks with the inlaws on Guam.

Lol. Sorry fellow car guy here to! Had a 05 GTO.

Yep! Got a take off LSA Blower from a CTS-V and the LS9 cam from a ZR1. Was going to go procharger but the whine of a roots blower is too much to pass up. People already freak out when I'm at stop lights without the blower!

Do you have Instagram or anything? Haha. This sounds like a sweet build.

Yeah the LSA route is a good route to go. They make good power! And like you said that whine is nice on them! I know a guy with a LS swapped BMW with a LSA blower on it with a t56 it's sweet build.

Nah I don't post up too much of a full build thread etc online. Last time I tried to take full pics of the car "in process" I forget to torque a few rod bolts down because I was focused on getting pictures, luckily I had a feeling something was "off" and went back to check things and caught my mistake.

But I did start taking the top end apart to test fit the blower today to check out clearances and to get a rough idea of what I need to change out and where to place the new stuff.

Old Setup:

That looks sick! Now just need a nice blue powder coated ZL1 lid for that blower!

Well as most of you know I have been saddened by the exit of Nike from the equipment market. That being said I went on a friggin shopping spree buying whatever I could get to make sure I'm covered for a few good years! There's really nothing else on the market that I haven't already tried that interests me so swoosh is staying in my bag for a good long while. Also, it appears that we will be heading down the path to get a new home, which essentially means both my golf club car building hobbies are going to get nixed in a "family" effort to save every penny. NOT TO MENTION, we may have to move into an apartment (2 kids/2 adults/ 2bedrooms) while the new house is being built which means at most I get one set of clubs and a few backups for a couple of months...Sigh...

ONTO THE GOODIES!!!Traded my 2015 Vapor Flex and Pro in once I got the two new FLY drivers.

Vapor FLY Whiteboard 80X/AXIV Black 79X

Vapor Fly Pro - Miyazaki JDL 8X from the original Vapor Pro

Vapor Fly 3HL and 5 - New shafts inbound

Scooped up a Method MOD 00 from 3balls with their rio coupon for $50! Feels great, in fact it feels better than my original method mallet and almost as good as the Origin.

And FINALLY.....Scored my last set ever of Nike Irons. I now have a set covering each of the major categories: Forged Combo Set, Forged Cavity Set, Forged Blades, and a Players Max Forgiveness CB. I've literally covered the spectrum and thrilled...
