Got a new job at a course!!
Start work tomorrow at a local private club here in Sacramento. Been out of work since the bar I worked at closed in late April. It's been rough for the last few months, but me and the lady made it through. I really feel sorry for the people who are not working, I know how it feels now. all I can say to everyone who is looking for work is, DON'T GIVE UP!!! You will find something, and find something that you love todo, don't just settle on having a job. M29

The club is North Ridge CC, really nice guys there, Can't wait for tomorrow!! M29
Nice man. Congrats and good luck! I do similar work at the course that I work at, Timberlin Golf Club in Berlin,CT. I enjoy going into work and meeting new people. It's a great place to work and being around something that you love to do. Have fun with it and play well if you get the chance!

VERY happy for you! those of us who still have jobs regardless of whether or not our business are just surviving or thriving are extremely lucky. hopefully more people will take the attitude that you have. nothing wrong with WORKING your way to the position you want. there are a lot of people that are above putting in the elbow grease and time... well played my friend. give em hell!

Thanks for all the support everybody!! :drinks: It feels good to be able to look forward to going to work again. I was at a job I could'nt stand for 9 loooong years, now, it is a new begining at the age of 42. I look forward to doing what I have to do to get to the goals I have, not only for me, but for my family. My wife and my friends have really stuck by me since I have been off work, and now I have to do whatever I can for them. Not only now, but in the future. I'm one REALLY LUCKY man!! :good: Once again, THANKS everybody, this is why this is the ONLY place I come to for my internet golf fix. M29

M, Great for you!!!

I went through something similar to you at about the same age 42 in 2001 right after the terrorists attacks. I was in the hospitality industry and layoffs came quick and plentiful. I too looked to make a career change into golf at that time, but things were tough then as well all over. I ended up with another hospitality job and while times are tough again, I'm fortunate to be working at something I'm good at....even if I don't' enjoy it as much as golf :)

Best of luck to you!!
After 21 yrs of working at 3 private clubs, I've now been out of work for 8 months. For whatever reason I haven't had 1 single offer from the many places I've applied including non-golf business. I just can't figure it out.
Wow, that's tough. But hang in there my friend, with your experience I would think someone will be fortunate to find you.
