Nick Faldo, the hatless golfer

Everytime I've seen Nick Faldo in tournaments or archive videos he didn't have a hat on or any sponsor ads on his shirt. I was just wondering why is he the only professional golfer that I have ever seen that doesn't wear a hat and isn't plastered with sponsor advertisments?

 

I did a google image search and did see a few pictures of him wearing a hat with some ads but in general it doesn't seem to be his style. Is there any reason for this? Is he against sponsorships?

Someone asked his (now ex) wife Jill this very same question and she said it was because there wasn't a hat big enough to fit his head! That's probably the real answer. Simp

You can definately tell that he's arrogant but why not wear a sponsors gear and get paid for it? Or is he just too cool for ads and $$$

I don't know why Nick doesn't wear a hat, However I do know that when I wear a hat I get a headache that lasts for hours after I take it off. And know that hat is not too tight I have never been able to wear hats, maybe they bother him.

There are some people that just don't look good in a hat or cap. Faldo is one of them. Besides, the guy has a head of hair for his age. I'd be showing it off too.

 

Nicklaus looked bad in a cap, and I always thought Nick Price never wore a cap very well.

I don't think faldo has any sponsors besides himself. I think he truly is an independent contractor at this time in his career. Plays when he wants, and has a jolly ole time.

Actually, Nick has worn hats on occasion. He wore one during the US Open at Bethpage that year. It said "I (heart) NY". I'm sure he wore it to keep from getting killed. Simp

I never saw Faldo wear a hat in his prime. The last couple of years I've seen him wearing a Lloyds of London hat and shirt (can't say that I've seen him play this year). Looks strange on him, but I'm sure the $$$ were good.

I have the same problem sometimes as well. It may be because the heat from your head cannot vent freely when wearing a cap. Weird stuff.

It actually has to do with the pressure the hat or whatever puts on your head, even though you might not think its tight. The type of headache is known as an external compression headache and the medical reason for why it happens is unknown. But, obviously, some people, including myself, are more affected by it than others. To prevent it from happening you can obviously not wear a hat or you can intermittently take it on and off.

 

 

And now I'm curious to see Faldo at the Masters, wonder if he's going to have any sponsors for it because its such a huge event. Guess we'll find out soon.

Wore a Lloyds TSB Bank (Scotland) hat all last year. Guess they didn't resign him for 2006.

Faldo never wore a hat during the years he was winning his 6 majors. Only started wearing one in the last few years. Not sure why, they haven't helped his game any.

Here's a picture of Faldo at Monday's practice round at Augusta and he has no hat. Also, there is no advertising on his bag. Colin wears a visor or at least he did on Monday.

i think he never used to wear one because his clothing sponser was pringle and i think it was less fashionable back when he was at his prime. He wore one for a while when he was with nike, but by the looks of thing he prefers shades. I'm with him, l only really wear a cap when its raining or a tea cosey when its cold.

Good Job hipcheck... I remember that now. It showed us back then that terse arrogant Nick does have a heart. Of course with his TV duties, we now know just how great a guy he really is. And what a tactician on the course.

That is a really good photo hipcheck, it is pretty damn suprising that he would wear that hat considering he dislikes hats and has quite an ego
