Successfully made the transition from cross-handed to normal

For the first 2 years I played golf in middle school, I used the same interlocking grip on my putter that I did with my other clubs. I was pretty good.

 

Then came the 1998 US Women's Open. Both Se Ri Pak and Jenny Chuasiriporn used cross-handed grips so I decided to switch for the hell of it - interlocking of course.

 

I became an extremely good putter. Not only would I hustle at my local muni but I would take money from my high school teammates and local mini-tour pro, though his ballstriking was much better than mine.

 

But last fall, I decided it might be better to use a putting grip that was more like my full shot grip so I went to a normal reverse overlap. My distance control was horrible though. A week ago, I was ready to go back to cross-handed.

 

This past Saturday, I played in a tourney and saved more 6 foot putts and lipped out more 20 foot birdie putts since I shot my career low round.

 

I guess it goes to show that if you stick with something, it'll work out.
