What shafts are you playing in your GW, SW, and LW??

Hey all,

just curious to see what you guys are playing in your wedges if you play Rifle brand steel shafts in your iron set. Please state the flex of your iron set and if they are Rifle, Flighted, or Project X. Then state what type of shaft and flex are in your GW, SW, and LW.

last season I played DGS400 in my irons and DGS200 in my Wedges. But as many of you may know by my posts I am giving Rifle 6.0's a try and want to see if I should order some different wedge shafts to keep the feel of teh set the same.

I play Flighted's 5.5 in my irons (MX-23). I played Flighted's 6.0 in my Clevelang cg-10 but I changed to Vokey Spin-Milled's and now I play Nippon NS pro 970 stiff. I love the smooth feel of the nippon's.

I play Rifle Project X 6.5 in my Irons (RAC Tour Combo) and I still play stock shafts in my Cleveland 900s 54 and 60 wedge. I talked to Jesper's coach last week and he laughed when he saw my setup. He said "wedge flex" means "fx*% flex" and equals ZERO consistency in terms of distance. Her recommended going with the stiffest there is for wedges.

I havent heard that before so I thought I put it out there.

i've got 3 sets of wedges and last week i took one set and experimented with rifles and i think the other two sets we be making a trip to the shop soon. i play rifle 6.0 in my irons and took my old nike forged wedges and put a 6.0 in 53* and 5.5 in the 58* and 60*. i'm loving it. the rifles have more feel than the stock s400's had. even though the kick point is lower in the rifle, and the tip softer, i am able to still hit low shots, with lots of spin, as well as high shots that will run out, and high shots with lots of spin. i've played two rounds with them, and spent 1-1/2 hours on a pitching gren yesterday with them. couldn't be happier.

 

i thought about trying the spinners, but i've read so much about the tips being "loose" on them causing inconsitentcy. i knew just going rifle would help with that. rifles and flighted rifles are the same shaft, just the kickpoint is different, and this is done with how the shaft is tipped. if you are going to go with rifles, i would see a certified rifle clubmaker. after talking with them, and doing this, i will never have any rifle shaft done by anyone other than a certified rifle clubmaker.

I have PX 6.5's in my irons and in my wedges i play 5.5 Spinners.

 

 

 

I was told to do that since we dont go after wedges like we do our regular irons. So far it works great for me!

I play 5.5 rifles in my MP60's and standard DGS300 in my GW,SW, and LW. I've got the shop ordering me a 5.5 rifle wedge shaft for each of these, so we'll see how they do.

I play TFR 6.0's in my MX-23's, but regular 6.0 rifles in my TM Y-cutter wedges. It was recommended to me by my clubfitter and I can't complain. Like em a lot and there's really not a big leap of difference in feel between the 2 shafts.

I play ProjectX 6.5 in my irons, and am currently using Flighted 5.5's in my 52,56 and 60. Seems to be a good combination, far superior to stock 'wedge flex' shafts.
