Thoughts on going lower lofted driver

antbody drop down in driver loft.

Always played 9.5 driver ie 983 K dpeeder stiff,9.5 TM 320 S etc.Went to TM r5 D 10.5 NV65s and seemed to lose distance.I know Im getting older (59) but the new high loft philosyphy doesn,t seem to work for me.Off course I could try a different model/shaft combo,which I may do.Always liked Titleist drivers.may have opportunity to get a 905t 8.5 NVS S.Can,t demo first.Think that lower kick point shaft(I assume it is) with the 8.5* would be ok.Haven,t had SS checked since last year but Im sure its still 95-100 with somewhat quick transition.Thanks for all replies.

You obviously know the latest recommendations from the experts, that the vast majority of players use too low a loft. And your swingspeed, one would think, isn't fast enough to obviate this.

 

I'd hypothesize you get lots of roll?

 

However, the R5 D plays considerbaly higher than other 10.5s due to the closed face and low COG, and the NVS is a high hitting shaft. I tried the same combo and just skied it, whereas the R7 10.5 757 was much lower.

 

I'd look at a high launch low spin club like the Nike SQ Max or Hibore, and if you miss to the right an R7 425 setup to draw.

my neighbor is 58 and here is something funny.. he plays a 9.5 r7 with stock stiff shaft.. but then he hit our other neighbors 10* G2 with a stiff prolaunch.. the distance and height of the shot were night and day. and this guy is a die hard TM guy ( driver irons, hybrid, putter) and he is wanting to switch to a 10.5 G5 with a prolaunch..

 

the higher lofted clubs is the way to go.. just got to get the right shaft combo.
