The Downswing

Need help...

:stop: My swing is mechanical and quick. Repeatable is the since that all my misses tend to go slightly right (short irons) or a slice (woods, driver). I'm not closing the clubface.

Now I’ve experimented with trying what feels like a loosey goosey (arms not as ridgid) downswing a la Jim Furyk and hit it almost dead straight even though I’m not making the mechanical (straight back straight through) swing like I would like to take.

With the loosey goosey the club feels like it’s falling in line behind my arms like its playing catch up but again I still hit it straight. Yardage comparison is equal surprising.

What gives? :D

Ahh sounds like a good ol case of the Reverse Pivot.

 

It sounds like to me that you never transfer your weight to your back side so your are ALWAYS ahead of the shot causing you to never catch up. This leaves the club open at impact even when your swing is on plane.

 

Try rotating your weight to your backside and then follow through...

Had another range session...

 

Focus on the weight shift and properly dropping the club into the slot produced tremendous improvement that I hope to have ingrained before my first company league match.

 

Great advice and it help tremendously!

 

Still got a lot of work to do.
