What 2 clubs should fill this gap?

Driver through 4 Iron

Hey all,

I am pulling out my 3 iron and want to put two clubs between my Driver and 4 iron to fill the gap. On the good days I can Carry my Driver 280, and my 4 iron 200. So what do you think:

17* 4 wood and a 20* hybrid?
17* 3 wood, and 21* wood?
17* 4 wood and 19* hybrid?
maybe cut down my SS03 14* 3 wood to 42" and then put a 21* wood or Hybrid?

I had a 17* Adams Pro Idea with a steel shaft and could hit that 230 off the deck. I do not know, please chime in.

I have a 3W & 3H to cover that gap, but looking back I think I may have benefited with a 4W (I love my 3H)

Debating the same thing, to go with a 13 and 18 hybrid or 15 wood and 20 hybrid. Right now I have aobut a 20 yard gap between my 4i and 18 hybrid.

Take your 4I and driver to a golf shop that has a launch monitor/simulator and hit them both. Then find the 2 clubs that fit that gap perfectly.

 

I personally use a 15* 3W and an 18* 5W and it does not work out that great. I love the clubs, but the distances between the woods is not all that much but the distance beteen the 5W and my 22* 3/4 hybrid is a bit too much. In my case a 4W and 7W or 3W and strong 7W would have been better.

Can you post your distances for your 10.5* D, 15* 3, 21* 7? Thanks

Just went throught the same thing and got a 17* Sonartec 2.5, and a Bridgestone Airmuscle 3 iron (21*).

 

I decided to start spending money on the wedges and carry 3 of them so that I don't have gaps in the short yardages--I can live with some gaps in the longer yardages. The 4 wood is good enough off the tee to get me out there about 245, and about 235 off the deck with enough height to hit it into a green. The AM puts it out there about 215, and the 4 iron comes in around 200.

 

I'll probably get a 2 iron hybrid (18*) and a 15* 3 wood for longer courses when I take out a wedge. I guess the bottom line is to take a look at the courses you play most often and build a set for what you need there, and work on finding another 3 wood/hybrid combo if you need to change up for a different course. That's just my opinion though
