Hey guys im in the process of buying a few new tour isssue vokeys...im just curious >>>>is this 54 proto 2004 worth the money??? i have been quoted £275 = $ 500...let me know! :stop: :D

they can definately go for that much....that's alot to pay for one wedge but I have seen some get near that on ebay. I have had maybe 2 dozen proto vokey with wings and no wings (prefer no wings like this one) and have never paid $500 though.

Retail Volk's "cost" about $75, it's a wedge for God's sake..not going to play any better because it's a "proto"..don't let these " tour equipt scam artists" rip you off from your hard earned $$..Now if your wealthy and money means nothing to ya..go for it..Jim

im not saying i disagree that $500 is a bit much to be paying for a wedge, but unless you know the seller to be a "scam artist", try not to lump him in with a nasty group.

NO NO NO NO NO You totally missunderstand why i would buy this wedge and why i buy other Tour issued gear. I do not buy it because it will make me better.....BECAUSE IT WONT! I buy and play wedges like this because they are fairly rare, i find them irresistable......i like to think of collecting this gear as my hobby!

 

Now the reason i was asking everyones opinion on it was that the most i have ever spent on a tour vokey before was 400. and i was looking for some justification or encouragement to spend the extra 100.

Like I said Plus1...go for it ! more power to you.. I use 3 proto raw vokey's everyday...wont be selling them anytime soon.... best wedges I've used to date but I do like : (not in order)

 

1. Tourstage Maru's 2004 and 2005

2. Solus

3. X-Tours especially the Mack Daddy grooves

Unless its a Tour Spin mill or specific grind..$500 is too much...I would say closer to 350-400 in top shape....even top shape "t" grinds aren't doing going for more than 500...just my 2cent..best time to buy Vokeys is in the fall/winter..not now.

From my experience the Average cost for a Proto Vokey is $300-$400, but $500 is not out of line by much.

 

I would spend $500 on a Proto if i wanted one, i actually almost did a couple weeks ago.

 

If it is something you want to try, i say go for it, you are correct, it is not going to make you play any better, but if you want it, just get it.

 

So in closing, you are maybe spending an extra $100, i say buy it and and no regrets, especially if you are buying it to play, if you try to resell it, you may lose a few $.

maru fe.99 are unreal although the grind on them kills me! so pretty though.

I love the NO WINGS vokey protot like these ones.....i current use a no wing T grind 04 proto and it rocks!
