HIGH LAUNCH HIGH SPIN SHAFTS

i was on the launch monitor yesterday with my 9.5 R5 with a Aldila NV 65 shaft and got ridiculous numbers.

 

my ss was 105, 160 ball speed, launch angle was between and 8.5 and 10 and my spin was only about 1,800-2,000 rpm.

 

i normally could carry it about 225 and would let it roll out the rest of the way, maybe 25-35 more yards. My problem is i do not have a steep swing at all and almost go straight level thru the ball.

 

my question is should i get a new shaft for my driver, or just get a new driver head with more loft?

 

If i get a new shaft, what can u guys reccommend that will up my launch angle and spin?

 

And if i get say a 10.5 driver, will that be more effective?

Pretty impressive smash factor. You should be able to carry it 250 pretty easily and still get rollout.

 

In general you want to use the loft to dial your launch angle rather than the shaft. For example, if you were hitting the NV65 straight to draw, a softer NVS65 (other than being softer in flex than the NV65) could turn that draw into a borderline hook.

 

You come through very level....a significant bump in loft is needed, even consider 11.5* to 12*. With the way ball technology has progressed, EVERYONE should hit the ball higher and you see this trend on tour everyday. 7.5's/8.5's are much less common than they used to be.

 

A bump in loft will increase both launch angle and spin....you might be a 265-275 yard hitter and not even know it....yet :D

 

As well, I'm very similar swing specs so have a pretty good idea of what your real world yardages should be. :stop:
