Why do you travel?

I recieved this in an email today:

 

I'm going to Bermuda tomorrow - a deal with the PGA Magazine and the

tourist bureau of Bermuda to show off the amenities of the island to

golf pros and section executive directors in the hopes that we will

bring groups or pro-ams to their resorts. it's a free trip to a place

that I have never been.

I realize more than ever that my love for traveling has truly taken off this school year. It is partly because of Paul. He gets to travel to so many places.

I love to drive everywhere. I like to get away from the college stress. There's so much to see in a new town. I've been as far north as New Jersey and as far south as Miami along the east coast.

 

Fall Break - drove 6 hours to DC then to Deleware for my friends house

another weekend - drove to Williamsburg, VA to watch a golf team tournament for the weekend

another weekend - drove 3 hours to Charlotte to visit a friend for the weekend

Christmas - drove 6 hours to DC again then a couple hours to New Jersey - stayed there for a week then flew home to Indiana

Spring Break - drove 11 hours to Miami for the Ford Championship - stopped in Port St. Lucie on the way back to visit friends

Past weekend - drove to Mrytle Beach for one afternoon

last week Tuesday - drove 6 hours with the JV golf team to Georgia for a match

This weekend - drove to Raleigh for one afernoon

This week - driving 4 hours to Hilton Head for Verizon Heritage

 

impressive? I think this is only the beginning of my adventures. I bet it's no surpise that I have spent almost 1/5th of my money on car repairs and gas. Three times as much on repairs than gas. This is because my car now has 118,000 miles on it. I drive a 96 Mercury Sable and I love it.

 

What are some of the reasons why others travel?

I like to get out when I can just to see new things and places. Hell, sometimes I may not even stop anywhere. Back when I lived in Austin, I would just take off in my car and drive all day. I just enjoyed cruising a 2 lane road up and down the texas hill country.

I too travel a lot for work, and visit a lot of suppliers. They all seem to have great connections so I get to play some great courses.
