I think it's about time to rethink the scoring system. Phil has won that last two tournaments and the last two Majors, and he has half the points of Tiger??? Does that seem a little unlogical to anyone else? If you want to give the past that much weight, David Duval should still be in the top 10 even though he got beat by Charles Coody this Friday, who just celebrated his 143rd birthday.

If you understood how the ranking system works and the timespan it started, you'd answer your own question.

I understand how the system works, I just don't think it is right. I really didn't have a question that I needed answered. I was just wondering if anyone else thought that the scoring system was flawed.

I was joking about David Duval to make a point, maybe next time I'll put up some smily faces or something... :WTF: :shout: :D :stop:

All I'm saying is that, if you win the last two majors, you are currently the best player in the world. I don't see how someone can argue with that? Tiger will definately have the better career, but Phil has been playing better than Tiger. If he wasn't, Tiger would have beat him.

Don't forget or ignore that in the last 12 months Tiger has still 1 Major win (The Open Championship) left in his favor, a 2nd place finish in the US Open, 3rd place in the PGA, plus several wins; not to exclude his 3 place tie in the 2006 Masters. It's not like he's been missing the cut or anything...and it's also been only 4-6 weeks since Tiger's last win; plus face-to-face he whipped Phil in that tournament. No, I think the ranking system, in this case, is as accurate as anything else could be. In Phil's favor he has a lead as Player of the Year which would be a big accomplishment for him.

really?

Tiger won two majors and top 5s in the others last year. Phil won the PGA and mediocre performances in the others.

He has had mediocre performances until the past two weeks. He beat Tiger at the Masters...doesn't mean the WR need to change...What was the strength of field at the BellSouth? Where was he before his wins?

Let him earn his way...like everyone does to be number 1 or closer in rankings to Tiger. He is as close as his record puts him

Tiger deserves #1

Phil deserves #2

Dont turn this into a tiger would have beat phil thread, cause I'll shut it down. I'm happy #1 and #2 are Americans !
