Cobra Baffler Utility

Hi

I just tried my new baffler 3/r today, I really loved it. Forgiveness is excellent, compared to 3dx.

However I do feel the the stock graphite shaft, Aldila NV-HL65, a little wierd. The kick point is too low such that during my aiming, if I shank my hands, the club head is also shaking, like a cobra. If I ignore that, everything is great.

Is there anyone got the similar concern?

I think I'm going to be buying a 20* baffler in the next two weeks.

 

I'll probably go with steel, just because it's 80g and has to be stiffer than the stock graphite. Also, if I reshaft, it should be a lot easier to go with the heavier shaft since hardly any big name shaft manufacturer makes a 65g hybrid shaft.

The two shafts in my mind are

 

UST IROD UTILITY GRAPHITE HYBRID SHAFTS, 73 gm

FUJIKURA BANZAI HYBRID GRAPHITE, 82 gm

 

Cobra really has irod as an option, but I am not sure the cobra/irod is the same as the aftermarket one.

 

BTW baffler is really easy to shot, even the xxx can do it (Hope I don't need to buy xxx a dinner.)

I know that I have fit a few guys into NV 75's and they have been quite happy with the result. If you want to go heavier, the 904HB is also pretty solid.

I have the 2/R with an i-Rod and love it. I am thinking about dumping the 3 wood for a 1/R with the same shaft combination.

 

I agree with you that the stock shaft is toooooo light.

I had problems with the stock aldila shaft - hooked almost every shot

I changed the stock shaft to a DGS300 and problem solved.

I have the Baffler 2I, reshafted it immediatley, was like a totally different club. I didnt like the stock steel shaft. Reshaft with a premium shaft and you will love this club. I use this instead of my 5wood, its my safe straight club when I need to get down the fairway.

I'm thinking about going with the 18* 2/I option. Maybe putting an Accra hybrid or Fuji 904 in it.

Mine is a 20 degree Baffler ordered with a factory TT S300 shaft. Love it. Hit this better than any hybrid club with a hybrid shaft that I've tried. The head seems to get the ball up easily, and the shaft keeps the trajectory stable and manageable. Plus it is long - hit it 230 yards over water onto the green of a par 5 the other day, and it landed nice and soft. Wouldn't have got there with a 3-iron, and it cetainly wouldn't have stopped on the green if I had. Will probably order a 16 degree Baffler with this shaft as well. Plus the Bafflers are almost free compared to the price of some other hybrids out there.

Great clubhead. great shaft for an easy swinger but HORRIBLE for someone with high swingspeed/quick tempo. Going to DGS or to something like the NV105 is always a good option. For my own clubs I've reamed out the hosels to accept the HB-T shaft from MCC - a very stable heavyweight graphite.
