cleveland cg4 or mizzy mx23?

what up fellow golfers........well season is underway here in the midwest and i got out this past weekend.....boy it feels good to get out......anyways.......i've been reading alot of interesting and positive post and articles about the cleveland cg4..........as you all know, i've been wanting to get the back up set and i currently have the mizzys in mind....cause i've hit them and love the feeling from them......but i've been thinking....instead of the mizzy, what do people here think of the cleveland cg4.....pretty comparable to the 23s.............

i need to decide before next month when i'm scheduled to get fitted for the mizzy...........i might decided against them and get the cg4 instead if the demoed goes well........

holla back and let me know.........will the 23's get knocked out of the bag by the cg4 or will the 23s stay?

haven't hit the 23's ,but I demoed the cg4's not forged but very soft feeling. I ended up going with the cg4 tours, which has a thinner topline, smaller head. it will replace my kzg's evolutions. good luck with oyur demo

Is that the CG4 Tour or the reg. CG4?

I play and love the 23's, but I had a chance to hit a CG4 Tour 6 iron and it was impressive. IMO the Tour looks very classy and it felt great, it didn't make me want to leave my 23's but I think I'd be happy playing the CG4 Tour. I never wanted to even try the standard CG4 because it just looked weird to me, if they had mimic'ed the TA6 styling and built that club with CMM I definitely would have considered it.

You might be able to eliminate one or the other based on your shaft preferences. The graphite shafts offered by Mizuno and Cleveland are different, and if memory serves Cleveland doesn't offer any Rifle or Nippon shafts through their custom department (at least on their website) while Mizuno has both. Mizuno doesn't offer the TT TX-90 but Cleveland does. Mizuno has the newly released TT Dynalite Gold SL but Cleveland does not. Mizuno doesn't offer the TT Black Gold but Cleveland does. Maybe some really knowledgeable forum members could tell you whether Cleveland's custom shaft offerings are greater than their website indicates, Mizuno's site includes all available shafts according to one of their custom dept. guys I spoke with on the phone (I called to ask whether they could install Nippon 1050's in my MX-23's, they only have the 950's).

my TA7s are being replaced by the CG4 tours. the CG4tour feels very good, and seems to be just as forgiving as my TA7s, but w/ a compact appearance. cleveland definitely makes top notch equipment, and did a wonderful job w/ the CG4 tours for sure. my vote would be for the CG4tours!

I had the 20's which are identical to the 23's and I was not real happy with them. They were solid enough but were too big to dial in shots. I've since purchased MP60's which I love and are just as easy to play as the 20's, but with much better distance and control. Haven't hit the clevelands so I can't comment on those.

Try to demo both. I did. I didn't care for the CG4's at all. It surprised me, since I'm a fan of Cleveland's golf equipment. I went with the 23's, and I don't regret it. To me, the CG4's were to light, and felt off. Widest shot dispersion of any of the irons I tested. I think you'll either like the CMM material in your irons, or you won't. Not much middle ground with it. :stop:

I just bought the MX-23's, went through the exact same thing you did, I was demoing a CG4, and the MX-23. I hitt both for an hour, and the Mizuno won. Feel was there with both, but the look of the Mizuno was so sweet. Shots were long and soft. If the Mizunos didnt exist, I would have got the CG4's.
