Nike SQ+ Non-Conforming Driver

I was recently travelling in Asia and saw a Nike SQ + driver for sale. I couldn't believe my eyes and have since checked the Japanese Nike website and it is listed (picture), although I can't access the actual club specs for some reason as I'm logging in from Australia-it seems locked for some reason unless you're in Japan (?)

Has anyone seen, heard about or even hit one of these clubs. It has a higher COR ratio and is non conforming in the US. Any further information would be most appreciated. I have recently bought the standard Nike SQ 9.5 Stiff and rate it very highly. I play off 6 and have noticed a definite increase off the tee and am very impressed with the club.

I am pretty sure that the SQ+ has a face of 0.86, not .83 like here. I probably have the . in the wrong spot. Other than the face, I doubt much is different. Japan gets all kinds of cool illegal drivers. They get the Callaway ERC HOT (like our FT-3) andX18 (like our X460 with a carbon crown.) They have an Ignite DFT (or something like that) and things like that. I don't think there is a governing body like the USGA to put limits on their clubs. I am not really sure.

How much of a differrence is there between a legal 0.83 COR and a non conforming 0.86? Is it really that noticeable?

i thought they test drivers with ct testing now not c.o.r.

I'm only aware of COR and MOI as universal measurements.

 

Anyone know of the performance levels of these non-conforming clubs? Some say they are a mile longer, others say the difference is marginal?

 

I'd be interested if anyone has hit one, owns one etc.

[b][size="3"]I have one of these clubs and it is 15 to 25 yds. longer, it also keeps the ball straight even with off center hits. it is one of the longest clubs that i have. the only club that is longer and easier to hit is the taylormade XR-05 cti, this is a rare club. if you get the chance to pick up either of these i would. you will like them.[/size][/b]

I've hit a 'hot' 0.86 Nike Ignite side-by-side with a conforming version in the past. From what I remember, the extra 0.03 [i]whatever-units-they-are[/i] amounted to virtually no discernable difference whatsoever. There certainly weren't two readily discerrnable groups of balls with twenty five yards' difference between them anyway.

The '+' heads are a bit of a curio that, sadly, amount to scrap value alone if you're playing the game by the rules.
