Black Pearl CG1 shafts

About to take the dive a buy a set of Black Pearls for this season and I'm trying to get some feedback on the different shafts offered. Has anyone here played the True Temper Black Golds yet? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Funny you should ask... I just got back from trying 3 5 irons at the range. One with Aldila NV 105 gram, Black Gold s3 and Proj X 5.5. It was about 62* with a pretty strong right to left wind.

 

The balck gold was like swinging a pipe you might use under your sink. I currently have s300's in my Cobra SS Forged and was thinking of going to the black golds. Now I am set on the Project X's. The balck gold's trajectory was higher than the Proj x when swinging at about 80%. To me it is quite a bit higher than the standard s300's. However at it's peak, the ball does flatten out and continut on before falling. Trajectory was boring and distance wise it appeared about the same as the my s300's. I was able to control the trajectory, hitting both high and low shots. Pretty easy to control. Feel wise the Proj X's have them beat hands down. The black golds felt a little harsh on toe hits, but not with the Proj X's. The biggest deciding factor for me was the dispersion on mis hits. Dispersion with X's was pretty tight. Even on my worst swing it was probably less than 10 yrs from my target. The black golds are slightly better than s300's on dispersion, but again not as good as the x's.

 

Overall if you hate the feel of rifles, but are looking for something stepless then black golds were slightly better than standard DG's. Depending on what the upcharge is for these I would go for them, if Proj X's weren't on the list. Good luck. They would look sweet in black pearl CG1's.

I play the cg1 chrome, and play x100's hardstepped, great ball flight for me. project x and any other rifle is not available in anything cleveland unfortunately. good luck but your gonna have to keep to true temper

Actually most of the True Temper line is available for the CG1's from Cleveland. It looks like I have narrowed it down to the Black Golds, Proj X's, and Rifle shafts. From what I have read the Rifle's aren't frequency cut and can be a little inconsistent throughout the set so I'm leaning towards the Black Gold's as far as a stepless shaft goes. Anyone else feel free to chime in.

Yes the true temper line is rifle is not. Because of supply problems with royal precision a lil bit back they will no longer use rifles in their irons. Which means if you have it narrowed down to any rifle, you've gotta be prepared to basically order a set of irons that is going to get reshafted, literally, immediately.
