The best way to get a loop is by word of mouth. Do you know anybody in the business (a player, a caddie, or even one of the tournament officials)?

Other than that, the next best way is to get there early for the first practice round and hold a sign saying "caddie for hire".

Good luck.

I've caddied mini-tour events but it was always by word of mouth. When my guy quit playing I quickly picked up a bag from another guy on the tour.

does anyone know how I can get a loop for the upcoming futures tournament? thanks

Future tour events shouldn't be difficult if you get there for the practice rounds. Many girls don't and can't afford a caddie. Most of them carry their own bag unless a husband/father/boyfriend shows up on the weekend. You want get rich, but if you're looking for experience, you'll get that.

That's normally left up to the player but my rate, for a mini-tour loop was $75 a day, 10% of any winnings and all expenses paid (food, lodging, etc).

Obviously if you were looping on the PGA Tour you'd get way more than $75 a day but that's about what you pay for a caddie at Pebble Beach so that's a fair rate.

If you're looking to make money then you should set the rate....if you're looking for experience you might want to say "you pay me what you can afford or what you think I'm worth but I'm doing this for the experience, not the money"

The only thing you should make clear is winnings....make sure that's covered up front....say, "hey, when we win this thing what do you think a fair percentage is for my effort?" It should be around 10%.

The Futures tournaments don't pay a lot of money but if your player wins hopefully she appreciates that you were part of her "team" and pays you accordingly.

Not to doubt you, but I guess I will :) How did you get a mini tour player to pay for your lodging and food, thats unheard of, even on the PGA tour.

Just to clarify. The players don't pay for their caddies lodging and meals in that they see the bill and reimburse them. Most players give the caddie a salary/fee just for working the week, obviously it depends on the indidvidual agreements, but in most cases its between $300 to $500. Then the percentages of winnigns. How the caddy spends that $300 to $500 is up to him.

Maybe this varies by event, but if you click the link you will see how we can volunteer for the Nationwide event that is held here in my town.

Nationwide Tour Rheem Classic Volunteer form

They ask for volunteers for caddies at this event as well as other volunteers for various other jobs like helping with the Golf Channel crew and spotting. Not sure if it is like this in other Nationwide events.

I've always wanted to do this, but just don't like the idea of paying to volunteer and using my valueable time off from work to help.

If I were retired, it would be different and I would probably do it then.

You might want to check into what you get out of it. I volunteered for the Nationwide Tour Championship in Prattville and, yes, we paid. I did spotting for the Golf Channel and got a much better meal than the volunteer meals (TGC brings in a caterer) and a TGC hat. This was on top of the event polo and hat I received. If we picked up our items on the specified day then you got $5 back and there was also a BBQ they threw for the volunteers. Also, if you worked three days then you got a free round of golf at the course.
