What did Ping change?

I was wondering what exactly Ping changed on the G2 to make the G5. Both are 460cc and they are pretty simliar. My dad had a G2, traded it for an FT3, but at Demo Day he really liked the G5. The G2 didn't seem to be in stores that long before it's replacement came along. SO, do any of you know what Ping changed in the G2 to create the G5. All I know is that the Half-moon alignment thing is slightly smaller on the G5.

The cresent moon is smaller and they also added some really small grooves on the face as well. They also changed the head cover colors as well as added .5 degrees of loft. (8.5*-9*, 10* to a 10.5*ect...) Both of the cosmetic changes do not change performance at all. (Obvisouly) What does however is they actually made a "spider web" crown basically some spots hollower then the others giving the effect of a spider web which free'd up some space for more weight distrubution. They claim that its a little longer and a little more forgiving and its also a little easier to get the ball up in the air. I have the G2 but when I hit the G5 I did notice a little higher trajectory but they are both so super forgiving its hard to tell if one is better for forgiveness. I really believe that the G5 came along to compliment the line of G5/I5 putters, fairway woods and irons. The changes are very small but the G2 was such a success it makes you wonder why fix it if it aint broken...

from what my rep has told me they moved some weight from the face to the back to lower the COG but also reduced the spin of the heads hence they uped the lofts by 1/2 of a degree. really 6 and 1/2 dozen IMO

I was told by a pro, who was told by the ping rep that apart from cosmetic changes they just altered the internal weighting by taking weight for the face area and moving it to the back of the head!! jsut like what "papichulosteve" sed :)

All I know is that I hit 2 out of 3 drives on the launch monitor with zero sidespin with the G5 on the weekend, dead center. I also hit the Sasquatch, Callaways and a few other drivers and not one driver ever came close to this stat. I ended up buying the new G5 with Aldila NV-65S.

From what I have been told and read, if you already have a G2 the difference is not significant enough to go to the G5. If you are not already playing the G2, given the choice, go for the G5.
