sasquatch with v2

got my 9.5* sasquatch with ust v2 65 stiff today after work. she is a thing of beauty and is absolutely solid. took it on the launch monitor to see the numbers. i've got to take the numbers with a grain of salt. wasn't able to go after the ball because of my work shoes, but the numbers i was seeing were good, 13*-14.1* launch angle with 2,600-2,900 rpms. this combination has just a great feel. not stiff, but not weak, just a little slice of heaven. afterwards i was able to get out to the range. after some warming up with irons it was game on. first 4 balls were just perfect straigh down the range right over the 250 marker (tees back 10+ which made it even more beautiful). finally had a mishit, a small, very small fade. tried to get a little sloppy with the swing and it was still just solid. the ball flight was mid-low to mid. i know there has been much discussion of the low trajectory-more spin versus higher trajectory-less spin, but this combination appeals to me visully and gives me more confidence. just a great great combination. i can't put a lot of shape on the ball, maybe a 7 yard draw at best and a 10 yard fade, but thats alright. i've got a sq tour if i feel the need to shape the ball.

anyone who thinks the aldila is a little too low, needs alittle more spins or wants a tight, solid shaft, i highly recommend the v2. i typically use the aldila nv-75 shaft but thought the v2-75 might be a little to stout. for me the nv-75 and v2 have a very similar feel, with the v2-65 having just a tad more touch to it. this shaft just has an absolutely perfect feel. you can feel it loading and feel it kick, but never feel out of control. i am very impressed with this shaft, expecially for such a low price.

that is the exact same set-up i am playing and i love it. the feel and consistency i have with this driver is unlike anything i've ever played. not to mention the fact that this guy is just LLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

you're right about the ball flight too, before this club i was a rather low trajectory hitter but this combo has raised my ball flight and still given me good roll numbers on top or incredible carry numbers.

Thanks for the review. I just bought the SQ but still have the stock shaft in it. I have had good success with the V2 in other heads. Will try the stock and see if I need to change.

 

Now if I could only get the damned headcover on it!!!!!!

I just returned my SQ 460 after one round... Just didn't feel right to me and the ball just seemed dead off of the face.

 

I should have tried other shafts, but I just didn't have the patience to go through that all over again. It took a while to find the combo I am using now.

 

Aldila NV and SQ just is not a good mix for me.

Nice setup, I was considering the V2 very seriously before I put the Diamana 63 in my SQ Tour.

 

For those having issues with the headcover, put the head in about half way and leave it over night. It makes it much easier putting on and getting it off.

it seems that the V2 in any head is a good combo. I have it in my 905R and its very tight ball spread and deep. I just picked up a Tour Titleist 905T with diamana 83 x-flex and i think the V2 stands up very well compared to it. Anyone hit the V2 x-flex? i think i might be too much for the stiff.

i appreciate all the responses. i had the oppurtunity to take it out to the range at lunch today. great test as i was hitting into some heavy head winds, 20+ mph winds with 30+ mph gusts. didn't have problems with the ball getting caught in the wind or floating. obviously with a wind like that your going to lose distance, but i could see the ball getting a great roll afterwards. i had my sq tour with aldila nv-75 and i was easily carrying the ball another 20+ yards further with the sq v2 because it wasn't getting caught in the wind.

 

can't wait to get to the sasquatch out on the course.

here is a head to head comparison i can make coparing the sq and sq tour, @ 9.5* loft, with an aldila nv-75 and using my ignite 410, 9.5* with aldila nv-75 as a comparison as well. as a side note, i also used the ignite 460 briefly with an aldila nv-65, but never cared for it because i continuely missed shots to the right with it.

 

sq tour:

- looks: more traditional looking. size wise i don't think it appears any bigger than the ignite 460. i actually think the "grey power bow" makes the sq tour look bigger than it is. it appears to me to sit square or at least very close to square.

 

- feel: a very solid feel. not hollow at all. similar to the titliest 905 drivers (s, t, and r)you can definitely tell when you strike the sweet spot and when you mis the sweet spot.

 

- performance: the launch monitor numbers for the sq tour were very similar to that of my ignite 410, with the exception that the ball speed was almost 8 mph faster for the same swing speed. the performance was the exact same as the ignite 410. easy to hit straight, but easy to draw or fade. the big thing was that it is more forgiving on mishits ans longer on mis hits.

 

sq:

- looks: big. just big. it will strike you a bit much at first, but after a few swings you don't even notice anymore. i don't notice much anymore even when switching between the sq, sq tour and ignite 410. again, appears to me to sit square or at least very close to square.

 

- feel: not quite as solid as the sq tour or ignite 410, but more solid than the ignite 460. much more solid that the r7, and similar to the r5. again, you know a sweet spot hit and you know when you miss the sweet spot. very easy to tell where on the face the mishits are.

 

- performance: the launch monitor numbers for the sq were close to the sq tour with the exception of the exception of the spin. the spin was 1,000 rpms less than the tour. launch angle close. ball speed the same. for me, with the aldila nv-75 it was just too little spin. i would hit the ball dead straight but it would only go about 175-200 yards then fall from the sky. i would get tons of roll, but thats not the game i want to be playing. i tried the sq with both the stock diamana and a acculaunch 70. both were much higher spining and higher launching shafts, but for me too high for me and the spin caused te ball to float on me and get caught in the wind. the v2 is perfect as it gives me a slightly higher launch angle and a little more spin. a perfect combination of spin and launch angle so that i get a lot of carry, and still get a good roll, but not so much spin that the ball floats in the wind. with the right shaft in this head, the ball is dead straight.you can put a little draw or fade on with it, but its tough. i've managed to hit one hook with it, and it was into the wind and me getting cute trying to hit a punch drive.

 

synopsis:

 

if you want a driver that is low spin and straight, go with the sq. becarful with the sq that you will either need a higher trajectory shaft with a little more spin than you typically use or need to go up a loft. if you are wanting a more traditional driver, and really like the ignite drivers, than the sq tour is the way to go.

 

for me both drivers are easy to square at impact (a problem i had with the ignite 460).

swing speed is 98-103. i fight an aggressive/quick tempo. i am working on making it smoother more average tempo (in other words more consistent). i will mention that typically i am a high ball hitter.

 

i wasn't able to try this head combo, but in using shafts that i was familiar with in other heads and then comparing that same head with a v2 i was able to determine that it should give me the results i am looking for.

i was able to get my first round with it in today. i was 8/11 on fairways with it, with one hole i toped the ball (just wasn't right in the head), i pushed one that was just off the fairway, and pulled one that again was just off the fairway. otherwise all drives were in the fairway. the distance was great, and most importantly, there was little distance lost when hitting into the wind (20 mph winds with 25 gusts). the carry distance was great, and the roll was great. hard to make a real comparison of the distance gain because this was the first time i had ever played this course, but i was very, very happy with the way this driver performed. i am a believer in the sq, and a big believer in the v2 shaft.

 

some overall numbers:

8/11 fairways

average drive 268 (carts had gps so i was able to record on each hole)

shortest drive 253 and longest 291

Im killing mine with a 110 ph high spin high launch swing brought the spin down with a tour paltform 26.3 tipped an inch playing 45 inches and man i flat out bomb it

The Nike SQ tour was the first new driver i took out for extensive testing.......it began with a simple package deal where i bought a set of irons and a SQ tour with a bimatrix xstiff shaft....i took it out on the course for giggles and came away super impressed !!!! First of all the club feels solid !!!! has a really solid whack to it, not tingy at all and the head seems to induce very little side spin........i had a couple shots that ballooned on me but it was quite possibly my angle of attack !!! Being a true golf club ho, i immediately set up about 7 configurations of this driver for optimal setup.....i tried the redboard 73, blueboard 63, 73, the ozik tp7, fuji 771, fuji 757..... the ozik tp7 made this head solid and accurate but i gav up some carry yards ( probably due to flex) ......i ended up bagging the SQ tour with the 757 in stiff flex......although the weather has not cooperated and the rain has soaked the course, im confident that the SQ tour will be my gamer until i can get my hands on a few Max tours !!! i havent ven seen one for sale yet, so im guessing the rice is gonna be super high when they hit the forums.......

 

on a side note, it is weird how the tour ignite 460 was never really solid or easy to control but the sq tour is !!! basically the sq tour retail feels like a suped up more forgiving version of the tour issue nike 410

I have a sasquatch 9.5 with a v2 76 x on its way. Will give a review when it arrives. Unfortunately I hit a FT3 757x yesterday and immediately bought one of those also. Should be a good shootout. I caved my g5 7.5 nv 75x last week so new clubs are coming onto the rotation.

I hit a buddies yesterday. The shaft was a stiff and the head was 10.5

I currently play a ping tisi tec that is a 5.5 and tour stiff shaft. I have to admit the Nike felt great. Needed a lower loft and an x shaft but felt nice. I hit the first Nike driver and hated it. This is a big change from their original drivers.

It's a little scary looking at your bag: I've also got an SQ, Ignite and R5, plus a Yes putter with the yellow head cover. Sure signs of intelligence and good looks! :)

really? suprised to hear you are having trouble getting the head around. this has been the easiest 460cc driver for me to get the head closed on. the ignite 460 only worked with a bunch of lead tape. the comp was either a fade/push or big big hook. g2 was easier, but not always consistent.

 

the sasquatch has been super easy for me to get squared up, and not close.

i do think alot of people won't get it cause if the teasing.. but it freaking works.
