Help With Picking a Driver

Guys...

 

Ive hit the 905R, last years R7TP, and The Ft3 Tour and I need to get one of them

 

There all the same in distance but the Titleist and The TM feel better

 

IF you had to get one.. what would you pick?

get the R7, the 905R is the best looking Titleist head I've seen. but i haven't been a Titleist driver fan since the old days of the 975's, now those were the BOMB!

i think the R7 425 TP is much more solid than the old R7 TP. it's much more forgiving, easier to control & the feel is great. you can grip it & rip it with no worries the the new one where with the old you had to be hitting it good to keep it in the short stuff, they are both great drivers but the 425 is that much better IMO.

only one answer to your question IMO and thats the 905R. much more solid feeling and better looking......but its all subjective!

i would go with the R7 but i would also look into the R7 425 cause it is a crazy nice club.

Has anyone of you guys hit the Tour Edge Exotics Driver yet ??

I´m currently playing the R510 TP with Speeder Stiff. Just Great. Always straight.

I will switch to another Driver only if its straighter or even longer.

But I´ve heared about the Tour Edge Exotics that it said to be the longest club available... ?!

I will be in the U.S. in June and until then I have to decide which Driver to get.

So please give me some advise..

905R great feel and is really long. Longer than my sasquatch i traded in on it! And the head doesnt look as big as it really is which i love.

Both are great drivers, but I would atleast hit the G5 and Hi-Bore before you make your final decision. I never imagined playing a Cleveland driver, especially one as radical as the Hi-bore, but thanks to a friend I gave it a shot. I am in my 40's now and hitting my driver the same distance I did 10 years ago thanks to the Hi-Bore. The G5 is also a great driver for the price. Very long and ridiculously forgiving. Just because the tour pro's play TM and Titleist, it may not be the best for you. I would rather be 20 yards further down the fairway than have a "tour-looking" driver sitting in my bag !

I brought up the G5, because I chose to stay @ $300 with my driver, and use the extra $100 to find a new wedge. Just my preference. Like most people on here would say....."it's all about what fits you the best".

Go for the Titleist 905R! I've hit it and the r7tp and the 905R is the better club. Besides, last years R7 is so old. If you have to get a Taylormade get the 425TP

thr r510 tp is a really nice stick, so why switch for a few yards?

None of the clubs listed here are as forgiving as the FT-3. Have hit all of these except the Hi Bore and chose the FT-3. You have to really put a bad swing on it for it to misbehave. The others can't say that.

:) :cheesy: You Gotta try the HiBore or even the Cleveland Comp. Both of these are AWESOME!!!! The HiBore takes a little getting use to but it is WICKED solid. :cheesy: :blink: :cheesy:

i love the FT-3 and the 905R but the only 8.5 in the R at the demo day had a 95 gram shaft so i was hitting it shorter but flyin the ft-3 in to the trees in the back of the range but the 905 rolled in

Okay, am I missing something here? Seems pretty obvious to me. Most everyone who hits the FT-3 is surprised by how far they hit it. Solid stick.

Give the Callaway X-460 Tour a try as well. Long and forgiving.

Hi there,

 

I have hit the Exotics Driver and it's a very solid driver. The one that I hit was a 10.5 Degreee with Tour Edge GD Exotics Regular Shaft. Just to give you an idea, my swing speed is approx 96 - 103MPH. I like the feel of the driver, looking down at it, it certainly doesn't look like a 460CC driver, but it is really long and very straight. I don't know whether I would consider the Exotics to be the longest club out there, I think it would have some competition from the PING G5, Callaway FT-3 and X460 as well as the Cobra F-Speed. All in all, I think it depends on the shaft that you use with it. Be aware though that if you change the default factory shaft, I believe that it voids the lifetime warranty from Tour Edge.

 

I would say if you had some time while visiting the US, find a local area to where you are that has a Launch Monitor setup outside so you can compare the Exotics side by side to the other dirvers, that way, not only are you getting data from the Launch Monitor, but you're also seeing the actual flight of the ball in real world conditions.
