sudden hooking

Hey Everyone:

With a couple days until I go in for surgery on a hernia (inguinal hernia...repair) I'm trying to get in a few last minute rounds of golf. I've had my Wilson Staff Pi5 irons since February and I have managed to get in a few rounds with them. My usual draw seems to be really accentuated with them though. I've suspected that my lie angles may be off, but while playing today I was hitting approach after approach left. This has been going on a while at the range as well where I'm hitting a small percentage of my target greens. Usually missing left...actually about 95% of the time. Thankfully my scrambling and short game as a whole were great today. What could be causes of this hooking situation? I tried a couple of grip changes. Could alignment be an issue? Lie angles? It's driving me nuts I want to get this rectified asap before I go nuts stewing about it for the next several weeks. I just have no confidence right now in my swing.

PS My shot starts out great right on target...and then it keeps drawing/hooking until it's 10 yards or so left. The shot doen't start left and is most noticeable from 8-PW

Hey All:

 

Well normally I do not respond to my own posts but...

 

I was determined to figure out what my problem was and I found it yesterday. Yes, my lie angles are incorrect but I went back to the basics to find the errs of my ways. The mistake was (a huge rookie mistake that I overlooked) my ball position. It was just a tad back too far. I'm glad to say that I'm back to my old self. I am getting my lie angles adjusted while I'm recovering from surgery. I go in tomorrow at 0930.

 

So for those who read my post and found no help. If you run into a similar problem just go back to the basics...things will work themselves out. But, do not overlook the small things (ball position, grip etc).
