What happened to fredie, Sun at Augusta?

Ok i waited as long as i could, but i have yet to see any posts on Freddie's awful putting exhibition on Sun. I just
have to see what fellow Golfwrx's think? IMHO i've seen juniors execute better on the greens. I wanted to see
Couples make a run for the jacket, but on the greens he folded like a cheap suit. Was it the yip's, his back or
did his nerves get the best of him? If he was to make those first three putts he had with in 12" of the hole, i
think we would be congratulating a different champ. I'm not trying to take anything away from leftie's win, but
if freddy makes those puts if think we a watching a different tourney all to together. It seems to me Mic alway's
plays good with the lead,but put a little pressure on him (ie) dropping bird's in front of his mug, we might have
a different outcome. Could not believe what i was seeing with Fred and the flat stick, i almost herald :)

as much as I like Fred...his putting is no surprise !...why do you think he using the belly putter ??? his putter has been suspect for sometime now.

His SHORT putting hasn't been very good from day one......he's always missed a lot more shorties than most other good tour players do.......he'd still be winning multiple events if he could putt from 3' - 6'.......he ALMOST double hit that one on #11......made me sick to see that "exhibition" on #14.......I wanted him to win it badly......stilll not bad for a 46 year old....:)

There's no way you hit the driver and irons as well as he did with a bad back.

 

He's so jabby on the short putts. But if you look at his practice stroke, it's long, fluid and smooth. But when he gets over the ball, it's not even close to replicating his practice swings, it's just short and jerky.

 

I wish him the best, hopefully I'll get to see him in Houston this year. Gotta love his tempo and demeanor on course.

I agree with taylormade fan, Freddie hit the ball way too well to have had a balky back, and he has always struggled with his putter - if he could have putted a little bit better there is no doubt in my mind he would have run away with the green jacket.

Freddy definitely knows how to read putts and judge speed ...but i think putting a long putter from short distances on fast greens is damn tough.....i am aware that some guys find it easy, but in my personal experience i would rather blade a sandwedge from in close than to use a belly or chest putter from 2-3 feet

In his defense, EVERYONE else was missing lots of short putts, Tiger included.

 

Granted his stroke isn't rock solid, but a 3 footer on a green stimping at 11 is a challenge, let alone the 14-15 that Augusta greens are said to hit.

I noticed the same thing another poster said. On his practice strokes and even on his longer putts, he had a nice flowing stroke, but when he got over a short one, he jabbed at the ball. I realize the greens there are tough, but I can't help but think that his "popping" at the ball didn't help that any. I have seen him playing other events where even on the short ones he had a better stroke and release on short putts. It is a shame, I wanted him to win so bad!
