905R V2 65 - VERY NICE

May hv to change my TM Bag....
Out of curiousity (and some envy of others professing the attributes of this driver), I picked a 905R 9.5 w/ NV65. Tried it at the range and it was pulling left on me big time.... too small a grip size / too soft a shaft, "virgin range session" anxiety - who knows.

Went to my clubfitter that night and reshafted it with a V2 65. Played a ound the next morning and I missed just one fairway! Managed to shoot a low round too by my mediocre standards. Driver was long-ish for me, dead straight and with a nice trajectory. Most of all, it was somewhat more forgiving than my gamer, R7 425 Rombax 65.

Now that I'll be keeping this 905R in the bag... am seriously considering changing to a Titleist bag, and clubs :)

I have a 905R with the stock Fujikura in Stiff flex. The shop said that changing shafts is next to impossible, and not advisable outside of Titleist. Is this true? Are there only a few craftsmen that can do the work?

Also, do you normally hit a draw or fade? Is your normal trajectory high, low, in between?

I ask because I switched from a 983K with an X-Stiff. That club NEVER went right. I draw the ball naturally, anyway. However, the X-stiff (combined with my swing faults) brought the "smother hook" into play.

Now, with the 905R... I went up a degree to a 9.5 with the aforementioned Stiff shaft. I have been pleased thus far (2-3 rounds), but suddenly the right side of the course is in play. I think some of it is swing mechanics (early in the season, etc). It doesn't curve right, as much as it starts 10-15 yards right and stays there.

I just wondered if a shaft switch might be in order. If so, I was curious how your experience with the V2 changed your drives.

Thanks for any response.

Before you switch shafts, play a few more rounds with what you have. I too just switched to the 905R from the 983K. Ball flight was a nice smooth draw with the K. When I started with the R, it brought the right side into play again, but now I am adjusting and am starting to release the bigger 460cc head and am hitting the ball straight. Couple more rounds and should be hitting the smooth draw again. The good news is that even with a fade I am 10-15 yards longer than my old K.

I hv a 95-99mph swing speed, and I tend to be a low ball hitter. I normally hit a draw. I went with a 9.5 bcos I read that the driver launches high. With the V2, I hit higher than my usual shots and carry seems to have improved. I do not think that I have lost any run compared to my last driver, although from what I can see from the pitch mark on the fw, I get only about 10metres of run.

Hit my 905R 9.5 with Diamana 73 stiff (factory) today for first time. previous driver was a 905T 9.5 with ZCOM tw74 that I loved.

I had choice of shaft (gift). My clubmaker suggested the diamana over the ZCOM based on the head having more spin. I have SS 104ish.

Absolutely loved this combo. I hit it high and long and could not hit it left. hit it straight, only misses were slight 5-10 yd fade. could go after it and not hit it left.

felt much more solid than my 905T combo which I really liked

Honestly it is quite a breeze reshafting the 905R, in fact my clubfitter managed to reshaft 2 905R drivers the same nite within the space of an hour - it helps when your clubfitter is "shown the ropes" by the official Titleist clubfitter in the region, whom I understand has worked on Adam Scott's irons as well.....

I couldn't agree more. I was using a 904F 3 wood with a V2 75 Stiff shaft and killing it. My club pro ordered me a 905R 9.5 with a V2 65 Stiff Shaft. I cannot say enough good things about this combo. My SS is ~95mph and I can really control this club -- fade, draw, straight, it does it all. My previous driver was an R5TP. The 905 is just as long but less demanding.

Currently having a honeymoon with a new set of 695CBs with TFR 5.5 also. Very soft clubs and not hard to hit at all. They will definitely move up in the rotation.
