Whats your favorite Taylor Made Driver?

Hey All,

 

I would like to know what your favorite Taylor Made Driver is that you are playing or going to play?

 

I have been playing the R540 XD 9.5 with an EI70 X shaft for 2 seaons, although it not the longest driver out there for me, its the most accurate, and workable.

 

I do however love the R510 TP, but have not come around to purchase one yet (but will).

I'm stoked, I took my 460 out for the first time and struck it very well. In fact almost drove the green on a par 4 at Steele Canyon. I was hitting the original R7-757 in stiff with 10.5 but for now will stick with the 9.5 and original shaft. Its funny how it looks like a watermelon on the end of a broom stick, but if it works it works. :)

Tour issued r510 TP. When you hit it flush it makes a nice dull thwack instead of the loud crack I get with my Tour R7. Love the Tour R510 TP.

most of the TM heads are awfully nice,

 

but my vote goes to R510TP,

 

i currently have the R7HT TP which feels awfully nice,

 

but i don't feel as comfortable as i was with the 510Tp,

 

that's why it is in the bag now!

 

i think it is the BEST TM head ever...IMO

I had the 360ti and the R360ti with Proforce shaft and they were awesome. My game wasn't great back then but the R360ti was a really long hitting driver and it seemed like club heads couldn't possibly get any larger!

Another vote for the 510...I've tried to replace it, but keep coming back to it.

IMO the r7 TP is the best head from taylorMade by far.

 

Clean looks, very compact, nice deep face, and with the screws you can easily increase the swingweight...

Try 2x 8 and 2x 10 or 4x 10... what a hammer!!

These (4) are TM's very best drivers shown in the best lofts for me:

 

1- 10.5* R500 (Tour) (Plays like 9.5* loft)

2- 9.5* R510-TP Retail and/or the R510DF (Tour)

3- 9.5* R540XD-TP (Tour)

4- 9.5* R580XD-TP (Tour)

I see a lot of positive votes for the 510TP. Can someone please compare it to the R7 425 TP? Especially launch angle and ball flight? Thanks.

 

I had to adjust the weighting on the demo 425TP that I hit to keep it from ballooning. Also, is the feel and accuracy similar? I ask because while I voted for the 425TP based on how I hit it in numerous demo sessions I can't justify the purchase price.

R5 TP - This baby is long, straight, and forgiving.

Other...my r510/10.5*TOUR...has a neutral face angle and deeper tone/pitch at impact...at 330cc, yet it has a deeper face than my 410cc Mizu... with the Fuji shaft from the 540xd it works great with my swing.

i really like the original 510df proto and the r7 shallow was pretty sweet......the 580xdtp and 540xdtp were good drivers too

R510TP is LONG! It knocked my Titleist out of the bag, and I definitely didn't see that coming... since I have been a tittly driver loyalist.

I had to throw in for the 510TP too. I tried to get along with the r7 and r5, but the 510TP is just solid. Best word to describe it (at least by my vernacular--but I'm as limited as the lefty offerings (cool) ). I'm looking forward to trying the 425TP . . . I hear they done some good things w/ MWT. Like computers, might have some staying power. :golfer:

For me its the "retail" 580XD with an Apache shaft. This is the third or fourth year its been in the bag, which is a record for me. Still looks and performs great.

I love my R5-N, 9.5* with an Accra T 60 shaft,but............

 

The R7 460cc is absolutely the best driver I've ever hit. It has a marvelous combination of forgiveness, a super-hot face, and very very good distance. I was also very surprised by the REAX shaft - I typically do not like Taylormade's OEM shafts, but this shaft felt smoother, and more accurate. This club was the absolute pinnacle of what a driver should be - a great combination of feeling, forgiveness, and super-hot distance.

 

As soon as the price drops - it's MINE. This club is a cannon.

i love my 510TP, but if i could find a r7 TP or a 580XD TP for under $300 id make the switch

being broke sucks haha

my experience is only with the following:

Retail 580XD - too big, ok results

Retail 580 - hit some bombs with this. Really liked it

R510 TP Tour. THis one feels the best I just need a different shaft than the YS6. Hit it on the screws and she is long for me. Dreaded snap hook/push appears about once a round though.

 

This weeked is a TM demo day so I'll be trying the newer models out though I don't think I'll be changing heads anytime soon, just looking for a new shaft.

 

R510 Tp has just about x2 the votes of any other club (at the moment) that is really suprising to me.
