I am in desperate need of new grips for all my clubs. Money is no problem, but i am wondering what you all think is the best grip for durability, tackiness, and feel. I've heard good things about the G8, Lamkin grips, and a couple of golf prides. Any suggestions?

Hands down, no questions--Gripmaster! I've got a goodly bunch of putter grips from them and don't see myself using anything else for the foreseeable future (I'll be reviewing most of those over the weekend). Standard club grips are equally good and I'll probably get some for any wedges I get this year so I don't have to glove up around the green--easier transition. Sadly for me, money is an issue. :)

If you want to stay rubber, standard Lamkins are awesome for both cord and no cord. I think the tread pattern is more effective for grip retention. GolfPride Multi-Compound Decades are also very, very nice (I have them on some MP30's--good transition to or from cord and a great grip in their own right). Winn has improved their grips considerably, but are still very much substandard when it comes to wear. No experience personally but much anecdotal info--including G8 with people I play with.

Overall best: again, Gripmaster. Gets tackier when it gets wet (to a certain point, obviously), incredible feel, and the durability of a dead cow. Budget best: Lamkin--not too bad 'tall. But I would recommend going to your local shop and seeing what you likes. :cheesy:

I have not had the luxury of having Grip Masters put on my clubs, as I have not heard one single person have a complaint about them. I play Tour Velvets .600" Logo Down on all my clubs, but that is just a look and feel that I have found appealing to me for a long time. This may change very soon. I had a Lamkin Dual Density Torsion Control (The newer Black/Blue grips) put on a demo 6-iron that set up exactly like mine, and went out and hit balls on the range in the rain, the next day I did the same thing but in the sun. I cannot vouch for durability, but let me tell you, the technology that was put into this grip has made it possibly the most rain-resistant, best 'foul' weather grip I have ever put my hands on. I have tried Lamkin Crossline Cords, No Cords, Golf Pride New-Decade, Winn G8's, also V-Arrow Series, and these things just don't slip! Like I said I cannot vouch for the durability, but I can say that while being very good feeling, it is very dependable in the rain. If you don't plan on playing in rainy conditions, then go with what feels best and what is the most durable.

Hope that helped, Bryan

My favorite grip is getting a little tuffer to find these days so I just ordered 50 of them. Its really the only grip that feels right for me. The Royal Sand Wrap Grip. I think its the same grip that Phil has used the past several years. They are amazing but not talked about much. Plus they are about $2.00 each. They hold up well, have a fairly soft feel, and bite into your hands well. Wipe em down every now and then and they feel brand new everytime.

Heres a photo. If you decide you might want some, let me know. I will get ya the hookup :)

Will lefty grips work on my clubs? :cheesy: :cheesy:

Seriously though, I am a fan of the Golf Pride Dual Durometer for feel, and if you are on a budget, the Lampkin Crossline Black, solid grip at a good price.

Kingofaces,

Get some scotch bright pads and some dawn dish soap. Use warm water and give the grips a good scub. Dry them of and they should feel good as new. It won't change the feel of cord so if that is not to your liking than go in a different direction. However, if they are just slick the above will do the trick. HTH

guys, if the gripmaster genuine leather is just too expensive. think about that, in the age of $100 plus shafts, $500 drivers, $200 wedges and $200 putters, the best grip in golf is too expensive.

well, anyway try our synthetic grips for both club annd putters. vibrant colors, gripmaster quality, the legendary tack and all that in a "real" wrapped grip. that's right, not molded to look wrapped but an actual wrapped synthetic called the "true wrap".

regards,

sarg1948

btw, forgive the plug!

Golf Pride Victory 3 wraps of tape. Played this grip for proably 6 years now, and won't switch. I tried the tour velvet because my playing partners picked on me because I use the cheapest grip in golf. After a week I couldn't wait to tear them off.

Thinking if trying the half cord, but not sure if I want to pay 2.85, or 4.50 for the full cord. I'll stick with the green and black beauties for a 1.25 each.

I vote for anything Golf Pride.

i've become a huge fan of the golf pride decade multi compound. a little pricey, but after 4 monthes they still brand new. they've performed well in a little mist, work on cool really humid days, and got to experience how they work when its real hot and the hands are real sweety, no problem. also, even though are part cord, they are still easy on the hands.

bpalmer21,

Where do you get your Victory's? I checked Golfworks, Golfsmith and many other places and no one has them in .580 or .600 round.

The very best I've found is C-Thru grips; not soft at all and super tacky and awesome when wet. You really don't need a glove to play with them as well. I have them on all of my clubs and evertime somebody checks one out the first thing they notice is the grips and say; "these feel sick!".
