Brands of tour equipment?

Why is most tour equipment the same brands?

It seems to me that most Tour Issued and clubs from Tour Vans are all the same general brands. To me it looks like almost all the this equipment is Titleist, Taylormade or Callaway. Why isn't there much Cleveland, Tourstage, Mizuno, Srixon or Bridgestone, I mean those companies make some great clubs, but why don't you see much of their Tour Issued stuff?

Popularity, Callaway, Titleist, TaylorMade, and Nike are some of the most heavily marketed brands in golf. So naturally armatures looking for tour only products will tend to look at those names first.

But as you will see, on this board, although there is a lot of TM, Nike, and Titleist tour only fans, you will also see tour only Cleveland, Bridgestone, Mizuno, and others.

TaylorMade and Callaway also make it pretty darn easy to know that you've got a tour club. Tour ID bands without serial numbers and TXXXX serial numbers tend to be dead giveaways.

Furyk uses a tour only prototype srixon iron i noticed in one of his bag pics. Off subjet did he also go back to the 983k driver?

Money. It costs big bucks to pay pros to play your brand and only the biggest corporations can/will commit those kinds of funds to the tour on a broad basis.

As with the easy identification, that is very true. TM is blaintly obvious with their stuff. But, the 3 wood I have from cleveland is easy to tell it's not retail because there is no loft and the serial number indicates the specs for the club.

Yes vince is correct on the older models of the cleveland launcher woods etc. Some of the new ones have a T serial or T stamp. The reason for the most part is not just the blatant marking but the number of players who test the clubs and actually play the clubs etc. Taylor Made, Callaway, etc are going to have a much larger staff than the small companies meaning more components on hand meaning more slip out or are overstock and sold off etc. Cleveland tour stuff you can find you just have to look hard.
