Cover of the new Golf Digest

What's tiger got in his iron on the cover of the new golf digest? Is that perhaps out of his "media" bag?

i believe it is an action photo on the cover of Golf Digest from one of the tournaments lately. those are his irons with DG X100's

he plays a form of the Dynamic Gold Tour, the Tou has a tip which is 2-3 times stiffer than a X100 and a butt which is 2-3 times stiffer than an X100, this lowers ball flight and reduces spin over an X100, other players like Adam Scott are playing this shaft aswell

i think if someone wanted a shaft like that you should consider a 2X4, its just a bit more flexible than the Tour X100's

its actually a great shaft, takes off the spin and lower flight

What's the 2-3 times stiffer supposed to mean anyway? Ok so they are stiffer than X-100... Does anyone know the cpm of a shaft like he uses?

i would guess the flex of a normal X100 is about 6.4ish ont he rifle scale where a DG Tour is about 7.3-7.6 on the rifle scale

Doesn't the shaft look a bit different though, not like a standard X100. Mine appears to have some black/darker color on the shaft, not all shiny silver.

 

I'm not saying he doesn't play X100s, just wondering why the shafts in the pic look a little different...

what are you talking about?? maybe the shaft bands on the clubs?? the ones that DG Tours dont have, also the silkscreen is in black writtign just below the first step, which will wear off after some play and cleaning, and witht he amount of time tiger uses his clubs and stevie cleans them i am sure those are gone too, again its a picture there are reflections and shadows on his aswell as well as photoshop done to most every pic in the magazine

those are not his gamers, his gamers have TW in read on the back of the toe and have a chrome finish.

By my calculations that should put his DG Tours at an approximate FCM of 19.2.

Can anyone tell me more about this DG Tour shaft? What is it's weight? Is it so stiff that they are unplayable? If it is stiff, could you "step them soft" to make them feel better? If you do step them soft will that negate the stiffer tip? Just a few questions on their playability. Thanks in advance for your information?

The more I look at it, the more I think it's just a shadow. The dark that I am talking about is the say "middle" third of the shaft...

19.2....yeah that's Tiger... I am not doubting your calculations P....I think there may be an over exaggerationg on the part of the DG Tours somewhere along the line.

I think he was using the calculations to show that the claim of DG tour's being 2-3 times stiffer than the standard X-100 was the exaggeration.

 

If I remember correctly the DG tours are stiffer in the butt and tip compared to stock X100's but obviously not 3 times stiffer!

Yeah I thought the tour shafts didn't have the shaft bands?

ive played the x100 tour shaft and it does have the word TOUR printed on the shaft near the tip.....mine were installed in a set of tour issue macgregors ground by DW, anyways that combo was pretty demanding but when pured, the distance was second to none !!!!! i didnt think the shafts were that much stiffer than normal x100s and the loweing of the ball flight was not that noticeable.......they were stepped a bit tighter and a bit lower, if you hardstepped a set of x100s, im sure you would get similar results !
