Anyone painted clubs before?

Anyone ever tried to paint a club like using spray or automotive paint? i am in the process of painting an odyssey putter i just bought and will post pics. Just wondered if anyone has tried this successfully. I am talking about full paint job not just paintfill

make sure you rought uf the surface then spray the paint on not brush because it wont look goof if it isnt even, do a few coats to get it even but make sure they are really thin coats spray from at least a foot away

 

then let dry for a few days and put 3-4 coats of clearcoat over it or it will chip very very easily

use very light grit wet sand paper & sand lightly when through so you get everything smooth, then shine it up with some compound.

Yes, I do custom painting as well. A couple of years ago I repainted a 983k. I sanded it down with 320 wetsanding paper and then sprayed a light coat of primer. scuffed that and then sprayed a charcoal silver (close Titleist color) on it and finally cleared it. It didnt hold up well at all. Im guessing companies use an Imron type paint (very hard, used for airplanes) or powder coat. Im not sure, but it would be my best guess. Anywhooo, good luck. G

Thanks guys i actually primered it and sanded any mistakes and fixed those then wet sanded the primer to get it smooth and then applied the paint and will clearcoat as well. I use an automotive paint used to paint motors and it holds up well to heat and i have painted many items for my car and havent had any problems with that so i hope it works out!

Powdercoating is the way to go!

Powdercoating is the best way to finish a club head. You may want to check out PPG paints website. They manufacture most of the high end paints for the automotive industry. I am currently manufacturing heads and bringing them in unfinished. The results have been remarkable and i will be sure to post some pics shortly. Good luck!
