Speeder 757 S vs. Diamana 73 S

Are they similar?

I currently have a Speeder 757 Stiff in my 905R 9.5, and have been hitting it well, but the ball flight is a tad bit low and the club feels a bit heavy for me. My swing speed is about 106-108 avg., and I'm about a 4-5 hdcp. After about 14 holes, it feels like I'm swinging a telephone pole(no offense to 757 fans). What I was thinking, is that the Diamana 73 S plays to almost the same specs according to Titleist's website, but is a about 9 grams lighter, and will produce a slightly higher ball flight. What my question is, does the Diamana feel alot softer than the Speeder 757 or similar, and do you recommend tipping it to get the desired stiffness? I want it probably in between a S and X flex.

that diamana shaft should give you your desired results with no tipping in a straight s flex because of the deep insertion depth.

I have similar swing caracteristic, low handicap, half decent ball stricker, i swing maybe a tad higher, more in the 110-115. Played both shaft in stiff flex, diamana was tipped and the 757 not

 

the 757 in the r510TP and the diamana 73S in my curent tour edge exotics driver. The speeder 757 is a much more demanding shaft, higher kick point, much stiffer tip and heavier. In my opinion these 2 shaft are not comparable at all, first the diamana is a much easier shaft to load, smoother and is more forgiving on miss hit.

 

Trajectory is also different, 757 is made for high swing speed and high launch player who wants to lower launch and spin while keep the ball flat and low. Diamana is made for a player who wants a higher launch, lower spin with a medium ball flight. The diamana 83 is more comparable in therm of weight but diamana will have a higher launch than the 757 with a higher ball flight. 757 is a boardy feeling shaft while diamana is smooth like butter.

 

for your swing go with a stiff and make it play true to stiff, test it out and tip it if the launch is too high. you will like the added kick of the stiff shaft if you can control it.

Thanks guys. What if I was installing a regular diamana 73S and not a Titleist one. Will the full bore make it play pretty stiff. I liked the stiffness of the 757, but that along with the weight it might be too much shaft for me. Or would you recommend me tipping the Diamana prior to placement as a full bore to make it play between a stiff and x-flex? Does 1/4-1/2" sound like enough tipping if a regular diamana is installed full bore in a 905R? I have already bought the shaft from a friend for $80, so I'm not losing my a** here.

i think the diamana has no feel to it at al unlike the speeder 757

The 757 for me was too demanding. Harsh feeling. The Diamana to me is just smooth. I didn't have to work to hard to get the Diamana to go. I believe that the 757 is a little bit heavier than the Diamana.

I have an R5 with 757 S and it feels VERY lively. I don't think I have ever felt a shaft load and unload like this one. I have never hit the Diamana, but I think it is a bit cliche that everyone claims the 757 is "boardy". I don't see that at all. I have a UST V2 65 X and it doesn't kick as hard as the 757, of course they are different flexes, but I have always heard the 757 plays stiff to flex and the V2 65 plays weak.

I think the 757 plays to an x flex in the 905R because if the full bore thru insertion. The r5 or r7 are not like this because their insertion is like 2". Putting it in a Titleist is like tipping it 1" or more and then placing it in a Taylormade driver.

Well, for the 905R and the 905T, I know that the 757 installed with the full bore thru will make the shaft play much stiffer. I don't know if it's x flex, but it's close. That's only my personal experience. And I'm no expert.

Fuji's Zcom series have come up with a solution to the Titleist long borethru situation, they have extended the tips of these shaft by 2 inches, from standard 46" shafts to 48".

 

Fuji 757 is one of the best shafts ever built, some like it, some don't but for those who do, when shafting a long bore, you may want to go one flex less or talk to someone at Fuji, or someone like Joe Kwok, all are at your disposal and all can help you out. :)

I say this string about shafts is hilarious....lol!

 

Lets throw in a monkey wrench and I say switch to the 76 gram stiff V2!

 

V2 is easy to load and very easy to release......therefore giving you more confidence to rip it down the fairway!

Not played the Diamana but I play the 757 stiff and I love it!

 

My swing speed is right around the 98 - 102 range with a pretty quick tempo so this shaft is perfect for me.

 

And as you can see I'm not really a small guy. 6' - 230lbs
