tour pro's and old trusty equipment?

hi all:i noticed at the masters that freddy was still using his trusty callaway s2h2 3 wood as well as lee westwood with his trusty ping zing 2 irons and this got me thinking what pro's on tour have at least one club in their bag that is a prodution model that is no longer made.i'm not talking about prototype or tour only heads just old production models.the old saying goes " if it works why switch"just something to think about,feedback wood be great.thanks :)

Tim Herron played Eye 2's last year (not sure if he still does).

 

 

 

There are a LOT of Eye 2 lob wedges out on tour.

 

Up until this year, Loren Roberts used an OLD TM 300 Tour as his driver.

Great observation b-man. I noted Fred's 3 wood S2H2 in an earlier post as well, along with Westwood's Zing 2's.

 

On the LPGA, Catriona Matthew is still using a TaylorMade Firesole 3 wood, with it's distict burnt orange color, and her 4-PW set up is TaylorMAde 320's. Good old school stuff.

Saw in GD a couple months back where DiMarco had an Eye2+ BeCU SW. I think he has one of the older Ping Ti pixel insert putters too, like an Anser F.

Bernhard Langer practices at my fathers club, his ben hogan irons are ancient, i asked him about them and he said they have given him tons of sets to try and he always goes back to them.

How about:

 

Scott Verplank - Ping Anser (029 dalehead?) with the gauze tape wrapped around the grip. He's said that he stole the putter from his college coach.

 

Joey Sindelar - Tommy Armour 845 1 iron

 

Tom Lehman - I think he still carries a Hogan Special sand wedge and a Cobra Greg Norman blade 1 or 2 iron

 

Fred Couples - Doesn't he still have that rtg Cleveland 588 lob wedge with the three holes drilled out?

 

Chris Dimarco - Ping eye 2 BeCu lob wedge

Crazy considering the onslaught of new stuff. I have noticed several players going from r5/r7 back to 510 and 540 (i think) TP's. I think it was Geiberger (brent) that is sponsored by Taylor in whose bag I peeked; I counted at least 5 old Top Flite Tour irons in his bag. The LPGA, that is where you find vintage stuff you wouldn't believe, I saw Persimons at the Safeway in AZ.
