goin' for the slam?

Only two more to go to get the Tiger Slam/Phil Slam. It will be interesting to watch but personally I think Phil lacks the game to win the US or the British Open.

Based on his performance in the 99, 02 and 04 US opens and the 04 british open, and the fact that he won the PGA on a course that was set up like a US open, I disagree with your statement. Does that mean he will win both this year? No, but he certainly has the game to win both tournaments.

Phil's preparation is second to none as far as golf courses. He will have the most difficult time at The Open. The US Open will be a good fit with the added length. He will have it charted like Augusta and should have know problems negotiating the greens. The Open will depend on the weather. We all know Philly does not like the wind. maybe Callaway can make a low flying driver for him.

Considering only 2 guys in the history of the sport have ever held all 4 majors at once (albeit different majors) I'd say it would difficult!

To win both the U.S open and then the Open would be incredibly difficult and I doubt he will do it, but to say he doesn't have the game is rididculous! I think he's proven he can play U.S opens when he finished second at Pinehurst in '99, and in Atlanta. Phil's main problem will be the British, but he has enough game to do it.

If Goosen wasnt such a clutch putter Phil would have the 04 U.S. Open. He can definately win.

anything can happen on any given day, thats why they play the game. There are 140 players each week that are capable of winning the tournament all it takes is hot streak and you can win. Granted the odds are much better for some players than others but none the less anyone can win.

His game sets up perfectly for a US Open but the Brittish Open is another story. If he ever learns to hit the stinger I think he'll be fine.

yeah 4 in a row for phil pfffffff--- Tiger will at least have one major by the end of the year, I think its safe to say Tiger will have more wins period. Phil did have a good two weeks on tour / new driver setup / playing well/ but this is golf, baseball is probably the 2nd hardest sport falling behind golf for players being able to hold it together on a day to day or week to week basis. 4 in a row he would literally have to be close to perfect every week and be on the top of his game at the majors, and I don't see that happening.

no doubt that phil can win US open, but i don't think he has a chance of winning the British open, never seemed to be on the top except for 04,(tied for 3rd..?)

Can he win the US Open... I think he has shown that he has the game to do that. As for playing in the wind... he's been heading over to the Open for a few years now (experience) and if he did win the US Open, I think it is fair to say that while there would be a great deal of pressure on him, he might also have a bit of confidence built up to contend for the Open Championship as well.

I think the US Open sets up really nice for him this year. I think, with his preparation, he will contend and possibly win it. The Open will always be a tough course for him because he likes to fly the ball to the pin and as we all know The Open courses can not be played this way unless they have a very wet spring and summer and then he will be alright but it will be the toughest major for him to win.
