TOUR PICS/ Hi-Bore/DL III shafts

Recommended Posts

1. What happened to the tour player bag pics?

2. Whats the status of tour usage w/ the hibore? i got one and its going to take some shaft tinkering for sure. feels solid but my 10.5 goes higher than my comp 10.5 w/ the same shaft. that goes against everything cleveland has been saying. if vijay is the only player using it, i'm afraid the hype is centered around 1 player who is payed extremely well for using that club. I thought after seeing him tee it off the deck in hawaii that there was actually something new and innovative. However, I don't see a dramatic change in tee height. I cant tee it much lower than i do w/ the comp.

3. Finally, davis probably switched to dyn gld at the masters to get more height on the ball. i would think project x would be a bad shaft choice where such a premium is placed on hitting high, soft landing iron shots. any thoughts?

1. I guess no member went to the event to take pictures for us... Buy me a ticket and pay my hotel bills and I would be more then happy to cover next week. :)

2. Yes Vijay is the main man for the hi-bore, but he's a driver ho....so I'm not sure if that is good or bad. The one thing I can say in the physics behind the hi-bore make sense and possibly the only innovative thing out in drivers right now. I never liked TM's MWT technology.

3. He's been switching alot lately, he searching for consistency so why not try what he probabaly played most of his golfinfgcareer with.

Triputt- Please don't take this the wrong way, but perhaps it is the way I am reading what it is you typed. Do you want a lower flying driver? The key thing with the HI-Bore is the HIGH launch, low spin. This driver is the only one out of the 50+ drivers I hit that I actually got fit for using the launch monitor. The #s I got were 14º-15º and 2450/2550 and that was in a net. Out on the course it really shines. Part of the "fitting" was which ball would also provide me the numbers which were optimum for me and my game.

Here in Flori-Duh we don't get much roll, if any but this driver provides the straightest and furthest carry of all the drivers I have hit/owned/swapped for/gave away/threw in the lake... If given the chance I'd suggest trying it out along with a launch monitor and somebody reading it that knows what they are doing. Everything being the same I wish you the best of luck in finding a driver that best fits YOUR game. Good Luck.

I am a high ball hitter & when I tried a 10.5 HiBore (the only one the shop had) I have never seen a higher ballflight off a driver. It took off like a harrier jet, it hovered straight up & then launched high. I had to loose 35 yards with the baloonig. IMO it's a Pile O' poo.

you need to check the loft on that 10.5! also if your a high hitter why evern contemplate the hi-bore? its like my granny hitting a xxx tipped 2 inches lol! This is a great driver that has surprizingly good feel. yes imo it launches high, even with the 8.5 loft, but i found that the spin rate stayed low = high bmbs that ran!

As stated above...no one was at the tournament, so no pic's.

If you want your hi-bore to launch lower, try a shaft with a stiffer tip. I have always liked the fuji vista tour. It's only around a hundred bucks and keeps the ball down. Grab one quick, I think they have been discontinued.

Phil uses project x, so I think your third statement doesn't make a lot of sense.

If you want a low launching shaft I have just the thing. Anuntipped Harrison 1.4 Low Launch Pro Boron. Extra Hig Kick, 1.4° of torque, 294cpm's untipped, around 70 grams. I haven't even used it, I'm afraid of killing too many worms with their necks in the way!!! It takes away 40-60% of your backspin rpm's, you wanna talk about low spin!!! I have the 2.5 to match, but haven't tried it either.

kinda like the one on top of this page, but a tour only pro boron model that is gray and blue.

Looks like that project X hype factor was in effect for Phil again. Maybe Davis should have stayed with them and benefited from the hype like phil did.

:golfer: (cool) :D

There are some other great players using them as well. At the moment I can only think of Appleby, Els and Toms...PGA tour players don't buy into hype (at least the successful ones), they play what works.
